why hasn't star wars explored this guy's backstory properly?

why hasn't star wars explored this guy's backstory properly? it's clear that he was actually trying to take down the sith alone because the jedi were incompetent. he was basically a dark jedi or whatever. but the movies glossed over this.

This is a television and film board. Discussing a space opera for children is no different than discussing any other other piece of fiction.

He’s essentially a last minute tacked on villain because George got scared at the backlash and decided against Darth Jar Jar. Otherwise he would’ve introduced Dooku in Episode 1.

Wait, Darth Jar Jar was a real plan? Because that would have been an amazing twist that explains away his moronation as a ruse

Yeah it’s like a story trope of the unassuming jester character actually being the villain. The way Jar Jar fights is actually some chinese martial art or some shit in which you confuse your opponent with erratic and nonsensical movements. It was basically George’s version of Mule from Foundation

You’re in the wrong place friendo. You should probably just go back to rebbit. You’ll fit in well considering you have zero ability to construct your own thoughts and opinions.

I mean he alludes to that but it definitely seems like a lie at the time.
And it wouldn't really make any sense in relation to any of his other actions.

there was no question that he wanted to take down the sith. the only question is his motivation for doing so.

Well why did he try to kill a bunch of Jedi? And why didn't he try to kill the guy he was working for? And why did he help the guy he was working for rather than sabotage him?

he was testing his blind allegiance to the sith controlled jedi. and Obi wan failed the test. so dooku was on his own against palpatine. you need 120+ IQ to understand the prequels

Dooku's history is the story of a good man sliding deeper into evil, ultimately becoming a cartoon supervillain who's either decided all he cares about is power now, or who is deluding himself into believing his own increasingly evil and over-the-top methods can still enact real good. It's a perfectly fine story to explore, but the star wars franchise is currently in the hands of women and sois who believe that any sort of examination of evil beyond condemning your enemies as nazis is to side with them.

He did have a story. He was a based Jedi who trained Qui Gon then said frick this gay ass Jedi nonsense Ima go do my own thing. Then some how goofed it and got weaseled into ol Palpy boys schemes. The pay was probably really goid but he obviously didnt read the full contract before he signed, even by the end of Attack of the Clones he seems like he didnt want any part of it anymore but was already balls deep.

    >why hasnt star wars explored this guys backstory?

they did, its called Dooku: Jedi Lost

its an audiodrama (although a book version exists) that goes over Dooku's time in the jedi, his relationship with his family, his time having qui-gon as his padawan and the events that made him eventually leave the jedi
its a dual perspective book, with the 2nd perspective being ventress and some of her time as dooku's apprentice prior to AoTC on a mission to find and kill Dooku's sister

    its pretty good

Because episode 2 was secretly a bad movie and George specifically had to make a whole TV show to retcon how bad it was, but never got to Dooku.

New Canon makes it seem like he believes the Jedi order is rotten and ineffective, and the Sith aren’t much better but he can use Sidious to his benefit while Sidious does the same thing with him. Sidious wanted a lawful orderly galaxy so he could sit in a big chair and be evil, Dolly wanted order in the universe because he genuinely wanted order and hated how the Jedi Order didn’t really stop the injustice in the Galaxy. Palpatine simply betrayed him before he had the chance to betray Palp. His conversation to Obi Wan was from the heart, and he really did want him to join his side to help him betray Sidious

It doesn't really make any sense that he would try to kill his best possible allies against Sheev.
Also he should've spilled the beans to Anakin before he was executed.

He was just doing what all sith do, try to recruit a sidekick by seeming like a cool dude so that he can 2v1 his master and become the new big dog.
Anakin being THE CHOSEN ONE was the first to break that cycle and team up with Luke to actually end the sith line so all their accumulation of powers and shit over a gorillion years would be lost forever...until disney happened
