In real life, Nosaka's sister died on September 21, 1945, and he wished he could have died with her. The story was born out of survivor guilt.

well "believe" is a weird word when the government scrubs the books and museums clean from their war crimes and its forbidden to teach about these topics.

Its absolute revisionism, so what else should they believe

Many such cases. The point isn't "bombing is le sad" the point is that he got his sister killed because of his own stupid actions.

It probably wasnt the suprise attack during peacetime, or the death marches, or the vivisections and experiments, or the rapes, or the declaration of fighting til the last man. It was most likely the Americans were confused and thought that it was the Japanese who played joke and put pee pee in coke.

If war justifies absolutely everything, then surprise attacks aren't wrong either. Notifying your enemy ahead of your attack gives you a tactical disadvantage. Meaning Americans should stop crying about Pearl Harbor.

most of the bombing attacks were designed to destroy the industry supporting the war and the japs planned to fight to the last man because they thought Americans would rape all the women and kill the babies because that is what jap soldiers did. the atomic bombings were an exception though. oppenhimer chose heroshima and nakasaki because that is where all the christians in japan lived and he specifically ordered the bombing to happen when they were all at church so he could eliminate as many chistians as possible

The more humane option is to disable their military, not atomize cities.
              >Not an American btw

                >Disable their military
And how would they do that? A land invasion would see all civilians go into a state of total war, they would fight to the last man for the emperor. 226 thousand people died from the bombs. Your "humane" option would have caused far more death and destruction.

Civilians are economic and logistical support for the military. They are complicit in everything their nation undertook, if not by action than by inaction and in a time of war, inaction is worse. The distinction between civilian and military is a coward's appeal.

Yeah bro how dare those goblins go in and stop the Japanese from putting POWs on death marches, and dissecting people alive, and making civilian women into sex slaves, and bayonetting babies for fun. I mean it's not like the Japanese government was arming its citizens with spears and ordering them to die if soldiers landed on the island.

Your duty is to the lives of your country and soldiers. Breaking the will of your opponent is key to victory. Fire bombing wasn't enough so they used the nukes. All sides were bombing the shit out of civilian targets. Just look at the blitz or Dresden. The Americans just had the biggest bomb.

      Anonymous

Japan can't complain about the firebombing because they did it even worse in China, that's why they always harp on the atom bombs even though they killed fewer and did less damage.

      Anonymous

      >But not even the military targets, let's just drop them on random neighborhoods

That's crazy, almost as crazy as going to random neighborhoods in Korea, China, and a large portion of southeast Asia and slaughtering the male citizens, taking the women as sex slaves, and bayoneting the babies for fun. There's a reason why the rest of Asia celebrates Japans bombing.

This is an absolutely moronic take what is the difference between 2 large bombs and hundreds of smaller bombs. Germany was flattened through continuous bombing and no one thinks its an issue. 3 times as many Germans died as Japanese and no one is screaming about them.

Not sure what you mean. Are you implying that more focus is given to the crimes committed against Japanese civilians vs Germans? It seems that anyone who is invested enough to discuss allied atrocities would be aware of both. Maybe because the Japanese were nuked?

I don't welcome anything. I don't vote, taxation is theft, and government is illegitimate. Government holds a monopoly on violence and therefore they hold guns to the head of every citizen to comply with these things.

You are typing on a computer imported from another country. That import agreement came between two nations. Those nations probably would have protected their goods from theft or fraud. If you dont want a goverment breathing down your back, you cant have the privileges you have now. You are now your own nation, you can make your own agreements with someone across the pond. I hope you can afford it.
