I saw Barbie and it was way better than I thought it'd be but I'm still kind of embarrassed that I saw fricking Barbie. But Noah Baumbach half made it so if I'm gay he is too, and he's married, so he can't be.

there's nothing to discuss about oppie. it's just another overwrought midwit-core from that hack nolan. being a biopic makes it even less notable. barbie is funny, complex, challenging, and open to interpretation. it overall tone and message also seem deeply mean spirited and transgressive, which is also quite unusual for a mainstream foo-foo movie about a toy. it's just a more interesting movie in almost every way.

This, Oppenheimer is just another bog-standard Hollywood biopic. Oh no I wonder what will happen, will the bombs drop? Will they drop the bomb? Will the bomb destroy the earth? who gives a shit my god like what I'm meant to feel conflicted about the guy who invented the atomic bomb? because he cried and quoted some indian comic book? that's like a serial killer pissing himself on death row and quoting "the little prince" and all of a sudden you feel bad for him like cmon what a hack

Nolan took a risk with Tenet and he got fricked by covid mandates. He will never make a movie like that again out of fear. With the success of this trash hes going back to making long winded boring period pieces about war. His time gimmick doesn't work in these settings. Just give me another tenet you bastard go even weirder with 0 exposition.

Maybe because place is Reddit infested? I haven't seen Barbie so I haven't talked to anyone about it. I'm also the only oldgay left on Cinemaphile and everyone else is a new person that I don't like. I'll be filtering threads full of the people in this thread now, whoever they are.

The fact that that guy is considered to be fit to portray Ken bothers me a lot more than the lack of male discourse about nuclear weapons here or anywhere else: His face is frozen almost permanently in a punchable expression.

They picked ryan becasue men and women like him and hes safe. I agree he plays Ken ironically. Why does he do this? He did the same shit in Lalaland. Anytime he does something mainstream he phones it in.

I have, for American indie movies they are good,. Bigger budget doesn't mean necessarily better. Most French New Wave filmakers started out the same, simple stories with a direct message.

  18. 9 months ago

Both are israelite propaganda movies. The viral marketing involved putting the two terrible unwatchable movies against eachother so that all the ''epic memers'' pick sides and go see these movies like those moronic zoomers who advertised movies for free by going to watch bad movies in suits ''ironically''
Oppenheimer fell off a bit because Nolan used white actors to play israelites while feminists are praising Barbie for being anti-male and pro-troony. Barbie is more overtly subversive so they pump more marketing into that one.

What's there to talk about about Oppenheimer?
There's as much to talk about as there was for The Imitation Game or your 100th American documentary on "geniuses who also act like buttholes occasionally" (architects, musicians, engineers, physicists, chemists, actors, etc.), except this time the moral quandary is put center stage, is related to killing people, and pits consequentialist and principle-based moral frameworks against each other more obviously for normies to see than other movies.
