Why is every half way decent film so overhyped these days? People were acting like this was the second coming of horror but its merely a good movie, nothing outstanding. Are the zoomers really this starved for great films, that they deem anything that isnt complete garbage to be amazing 9/10 kino?

Personally I was really disappointed because it got so hyped up here. People were acting like I was in for a return to great horror movies. The trailer was also pretty good for it.
Turns out it's a 6/10 at best. Good acting from most, great premise, but the main "villain" couldn't act for shit and it fell to pieces at the end.

Intro was good, build up was cool, climax was not the best the CGI lightning looked bad. When the film stopped being shot like a traditional talk show is when it plummeted.

Yeah, I really didn't like the CG pyrotechnics at the end. It made the climax feel like the Ghostbusters were about to come in any minute.
All they needed was to shake the camera, have the lighting go crazy, and maybe have some bulbs explode in a shower of sparks or something. That would have been chaotic enough.
CG was supposed to look like 70s effects for obvious reasons.
Then they failed miserably, because no effects in the 70s looked like that.
