You remember that time when the Leman Russ said "it's Russin time" and started Russing all over his battle brothers? Yeah, it was kind of gay. There is definitely something homoerotic about 8 foot tall, tanned, muscular men walking naked into battle covered in oil.
It's a total sausage fest. I'm gay and don't mind, but I can see how women/normies could be turned off by 90-100% of human characters being macho men supersoldiers if the story is about space marines (and it will be about space marines).
>WH40K lore is just a shitty copy/paste job of all popular sci-fi >modern hacks decide to "take inspiration" from WH40K instead of actually experiencing the original (and better) works those ideas came from
it's going at a snail pace, we don't even know what the frick is he gonna adapt. I remember before this annoncment they talked about doing Eisenhorn but they are silent about that now
it's over the top and stylistic and would be hard to translate on screen
isn't there like a million books
you don't have to adapt the "main" storyline, you can create smaller scale storylines from all sorts of parts of the universe
something the disney people could have done with star wars
Lately the entire franchise has been diluted into a bunch of candy-colored almost-gacha games.
All the grimdark has been filtered away so normies can enjoy this without getting too spooked.
The old artwork looked gothic and even gigeresque, with some patina and miasma of grit and filth permeating everything, but all of that is gone now and it just looks like some generic slop.
Theres been a general de-uglification of 40k as far back as 3rd edition (1998). GW got rid of breasts on daemons etc in the early 2000s. The more mainstream 40k gets the more diluted it becomes.
contrary to Cinemaphile obsessions "woke" isn't much of a problem in 40k, at least as of yet. You have shoehorned blacks in artwork and that's really it.
It's in the writing too. Books and games. 40k was a post-apocalyptic setting where rag-tag warbands of lunatics fought over 'relics' of a time when shit worked. Marines and inquisitors depicted with intentionally cartoonish, distorted and ugly proportions decking themselves out in all these gaudy militaristic honors and purity seals due to superstition and a lowbrow gangland mindset. Satire to the extreme.
Now space marines are tactical geniuses with picatinny rails on their brand new practical rifle-sized bolters heroically fighting 'the dying of the light' or whatever. It's fricking gay.
Same problem comics has, fans of the work are now the ones writing the work and making the art. Since they don't know what it was first based on (or straight up stolen from) they don't see the satire or the homage.
The most heroic faction is full religious fascists, the best faction is entirely composed of males because they breed by spreading spores and before anyone mentions the Tau they're fricking homo.
it would always be the imperium PoV
they would likely have to introduce it through the lens of some sympathetic human character within the imperium
as I say a smaller scale storyline to introduce the universe to the wider audience
Based Ork enjoyers. They truly live the dream. >can do whatever the frick they want as long as it's fighting (which they love doing) >free society ruled by the most worthy, aka the guy who has the biggest shoota >based morons whose technology works on the basis that they believe it does
How can any other faction even compete?
it would always be the imperium PoV
they would likely have to introduce it through the lens of some sympathetic human character within the imperium
as I say a smaller scale storyline to introduce the universe to the wider audience
Even the most modern generic 40k books are always Imperial POV and don't bvother trying to villify the Imperium.
Even the 2023 diversity shit has Imperial Humans praising the Emperor and stomping on comedically evil and unsympathetic aliens/cultists/monsters/whatever.
I can't see the Cavill series doing anything different. GW isn't interested in changing the narrative of 40k because Imperial factions make so much money for them (80% of sales)
I don't think the Imperium is a problem, I like me some Spess Marines at times but religious fascists is somewhat a hard sell to hollywood. Plus the whole problem even with Cavill involved will be tone related. Watching a few hours of the imperium praising the emperor is lore accurate but might get old quickly, on the other hand without the overbearing religious bullshit how much will it feel like the imperium? Tricky.
this is an AI post but it the protagonist or PoV doesn't have to a zealot, they could have the protagonist be some nobody from some shithole world working their way up or something happening to them etc., or someone established but obviously not a true believer in their excesses, just pays lip service as its how things go, etc.
>this is an AI post but it the protagonist or PoV doesn't have to a zealot, they could have the protagonist be some nobody from some shithole world working their way up or something happening to them etc., or someone established but obviously not a true believer in their excesses, just pays lip service as its how things go, etc.
AI is heresy anon.
Starship troopers was a massive hit despite being a deliberately over-the-top parody of militarism. (P.S. Militarism and fascism aren't the same thing dumbass. Fascism is a socialist ideology).
People love seeing aliens get their head stomped in by patriots.
Hollywood has problems with even adaptations of simple classic fantasy or fantastic stories, anon.
WH40k has way too specific vibe and aesthetic, that maynot fit the broad audience tastes.
Producers not giving a shit about the source material are also the problem.
I wish best luck to Cavill, and hope he will be able to start the tv/kino medium of WH40k strong.
Its not really devoid of hope or depressing.
Its predictable as all hell, and ultimately, optimistic with no mysteries what so ever.
Any setting with idea of afterlife is optimistic by default.
Why would you want current Hollywood to adapt your favourite franchise? They'll just find a way to completely ruin it, just wait for the official version of Astartes to kickstart a new revolution in animation, powered by AI eventually.
No one to root for and chuds will ape out if they see a non-white space marine who is not a White Scar or Salamander.
Or if a Battle Sister waifu is bkack.
It's actually gw since they could loose control of their ip - that's why they crack down on fan-made content and give rights for making vidya only to the b-tier companies
its built on a foundation of racism, sexism, and theft of IP belonging to much bigger companies
the optics are all wrong, imagine if the old star wars movies had mammies and blackface disney never would have touched it
How badly do you want it to happen? Enough for the immigrant, nazi, capitalism, and feminist agendas to be injected? Do you really want Clint Eastwood as a mechanicus preist barely holding onto a sliver of his humanity regaining it somehow by teaming up with some benevolent slaneesh trannies and guiding an innocent tyranid brood through the imperium underbelly to show the light to the empress heircarnate?
why would you want a hollywood adaptation of 40k? >full gay space marine chapter >probably follows the story of same lesbian guardsman wanting to get married to some random dyke >emperor is the only person that doesnt get changed because hes technically not able bodied and thus sufficienctly diverse
What's to adapt? There's no story, no characters. Just endless "lore" piled on "lore", places and names and fictional battles for autists to memorise. Normal people aren't interested in this.
warhammer is fricking gay except Orks, conversely, who are cool as hell
It's a total sausage fest. I'm gay and don't mind, but I can see how women/normies could be turned off by 90-100% of human characters being macho men supersoldiers if the story is about space marines (and it will be about space marines).
Muh empowered females!!!
Oh you have male role models doing male activities? What are you, GAY?
Stupid fricking zoomers
What is there to adapt? The tabletop game, lol? It's boring af. The books? Only the Eisenhorn trilogy is somewhat tolerable, but still not good enough to make into a movie. The Horus Heresy? I'd rather watch a movie about Prigozhin's mutiny, it had almost the same plot as HH, but was funny.
I'll agree to a certain extent, with astartes being the prime example. with that being said some dialogue is fine, like chatter between marines or just general talking but it can't be overbearing like straight up explaining the plot to the audience.
The Night Lords trilogy has some pretty intriguing perspective with the protag pining for the former glory of his legion as it decays around him even with the admitted contradiction that they've always been scumbag murderers who fight cowardly as a tactic. It also has some pretty bad MCU quips between marines.
I’m so sick of you gays treating this slop like it’s the 2nd coming of Christ. Can you go back to spamming Hyperion cantos threads? Or literally any sci-fi that hasn’t been spammed to death.
I'm excited to see what henry makes, but I think 40k is one of those properties that works better in text. Most of the battles are implied to be massive scale medieval style clashes but with guns and super weapons, there's no real entertaining way to put that to film without it getting stale.
It's more interesting to read about how "thirty million soldiers gave there lives to free this forge world from the tyranids... these were the commanders last words" than to actually see it.
I don't want to see a bunch of space marines talking in quippy dialogue and having moronic drama among themselves. The people of 40k are implied to act and speak in a very straightforward monk like way to avoid chaos temptation. This works in the games because games aren't so dependent on dialogue, but filmmakers won't be able to help themselves, they will give the characters too much personality and it will break immersion.
The older I get the more I realize some things just shouldn't be put to film. I will still watch what henry makes though, he seems to be genuinely vested in keeping it pure and as long as the higher ups don't force a bunch of garbage down his throat it could be good.
I do think it takes too much from other franchises, and it would be way more noticeable in a tv/movie format. It's the same as when people say they want a MGS3 movie, I think it just copies too much from other movie kojima likes, so if you try and convert it back to a movie it will be way too obvious
It’s too autistic. Also kind of gay.
>kind of gay
Elaborate??
You remember that time when the Leman Russ said "it's Russin time" and started Russing all over his battle brothers? Yeah, it was kind of gay. There is definitely something homoerotic about 8 foot tall, tanned, muscular men walking naked into battle covered in oil.

are gay autists not profitable?
you just summed up every movie after 2013
>WH40K lore is just a shitty copy/paste job of all popular sci-fi
>modern hacks decide to "take inspiration" from WH40K instead of actually experiencing the original (and better) works those ideas came from
name one
>Alien
>Hellraiser
>A Canticle for Liebowitz
>Dune
>Star Wars
>Judge Dredd
>Terminator
...
>Starcraft
Holy bait
Entire Imperium is just Dune ripoff. Aliens are just taken from WFB.
>A Canticle for Liebowitz
Kino
>dune
>ripping off older scifi
Anon I......
Alien (Tyranids), Starship Troopers (Imperium/Tyranids), Hellraiser (Drukhari) Gundam Wing (Tau)
Oh sorry, you asked me to name one. Mad Max. (Orks)
>dr*khari
rope yourself, troon. It's Dark Eldar.
Isn't Henry Cavill doing an adaptation for Netflix?
it's going at a snail pace, we don't even know what the frick is he gonna adapt. I remember before this annoncment they talked about doing Eisenhorn but they are silent about that now
They’re doing womenandBlack folkhorn now
>the demonhost is a woman moment now
These twats gave me hope with nexus by using the Salamanders and the sister of battles properly
theres literally no story to warhammer
its a role playing game
nothing more
it's over the top and stylistic and would be hard to translate on screen
isn't there like a million books
you don't have to adapt the "main" storyline, you can create smaller scale storylines from all sorts of parts of the universe
something the disney people could have done with star wars
main story first would kill any interest. They should do an inquisition show it's perfect to introduce the main things and problems
Lately the entire franchise has been diluted into a bunch of candy-colored almost-gacha games.
All the grimdark has been filtered away so normies can enjoy this without getting too spooked.
The old artwork looked gothic and even gigeresque, with some patina and miasma of grit and filth permeating everything, but all of that is gone now and it just looks like some generic slop.
don't forget trannies infecting the thing and saying "hurr durr it's political"
Theres been a general de-uglification of 40k as far back as 3rd edition (1998). GW got rid of breasts on daemons etc in the early 2000s. The more mainstream 40k gets the more diluted it becomes.

Worse, GW wanted to turn it into MCU.
Some of the new blood in the GW art department is worth their salt.
Video game wise it's been like that for decades you moron
GW will who're out their IP for pennies as long as they don't make a video game that competes in any way with the tabletop
This. 40k is incredibly boring and generic now, the franchise is spiritually dead
The 'story' is just an excuse to sell toys to manchildren.
There really isnt much drama or crisis to explore.
The most heroic faction is full religious fascists, the best faction is entirely composed of males because they breed by spreading spores and before anyone mentions the Tau they're fricking homo.
>sisters of battle finally on the big screen, instead of one like in Nexus Pariah it's a horde of Mariah Carrey

Just burn all of that old frickers for glory of God-Emperor and hired new. Simple as frick.
It's a depressing setting devoid of hope, where even the good guys are full of evil. It's not what we need these days.
Its not really devoid of hope or depressing.
Its predictable as all hell, and ultimately, optimistic with no mysteries what so ever.

warhammer the movie synopsis:
we have to expand OUR empire
they are THREATENING our empire
we must take over THEIR empire
Americans distrust Catholics.
Why would you want current Hollywood to adapt your favourite franchise? They'll just find a way to completely ruin it, just wait for the official version of Astartes to kickstart a new revolution in animation, powered by AI eventually.
Can't wait for the amazon show where the main characters will be a woman and a black guy.
Like Pariah Nexus already has? You are late.
I really hate these threads that open with a rhetorical question
>burn the heretic
>kill the mutant
>purge the unclean
and thats coming from the good guys, its anti-modern hollywood
No one to root for and chuds will ape out if they see a non-white space marine who is not a White Scar or Salamander.
Or if a Battle Sister waifu is bkack.
Production costs
story aside it is no chance this will look good on screen right? seems way to expensive too make a tv show of
Probably will look like the warcraft movie
Yeah, you need to cgi so much to get the scale and tech that you could basically already keep it animated.
Just motion capture the actors faces.
It's actually gw since they could loose control of their ip - that's why they crack down on fan-made content and give rights for making vidya only to the b-tier companies
Imagine how much it would cost to adapt something like this image into a 90 minute movie.
?
What was this supposed to prove?
All that shit is done with crowd sims, it is the less expensive part.
its built on a foundation of racism, sexism, and theft of IP belonging to much bigger companies
the optics are all wrong, imagine if the old star wars movies had mammies and blackface disney never would have touched it

warhammer is fricking gay except Orks, conversely, who are cool as hell

Cinemaphile is over
The art style of Warhammer has always looked moronic to me, I don't get how anyone can take it seriously.
It's not supposed to be taken seriously
It's a fantasy table top game in a science fiction universe
40k movie would just be two hours of CGI action.
all the best 40k media is action with little/no dialogue
I'll agree to a certain extent, with astartes being the prime example. with that being said some dialogue is fine, like chatter between marines or just general talking but it can't be overbearing like straight up explaining the plot to the audience.

its basically impossible to adapt to live action, the scale is too big to possibly portray. Battles have casualties in the billions
millions die in your average star wars space battle
Because the setting is getting shittier and shittier. 40k is basically indistinguishable from a Marvel comic now
if the empire is too fascie for pedowood what chance does the imperium have
>what chance does the imperium have
The imperiums portrayed as very LGBT+ in the lore. Xenophia pretty much replaced racism.
its autistic as frick and has basically zero depth.
Maybe someone can answer this question for me. Why is the only interesting part of Warhammer 40k for me, the god damn Orks?
They’re a clown car of bad ideas. They would be pure cheese anyplace else. Is it just because they’re the only ones having a good time?
they are fricking idiots and don't suffer bad writing because they are funs
