The rest of the McGee family is super relevant, what’re you on about? They get plenty of fun shit to do. In fact, the show does the same as BCG by almost exclusively focusing on Molly, Scratch, and the family. School episodes are almost nonexistent, something that BCG conveniently avoids entirely. Molly McGee has the added advantage of more frequent original songs, so it had everything going for it. Maybe the Mercury Filmworks outsourcing was what did it in ultimately. I know that shit's expensive

I advise watching season 1, and just the first few episodes of season 2. This show doesn't do plot episodes well (as usual with Disney shows, even back to the GF era they were the weakest) so season 2 focusing on plot was just the downfall for me.

It came out at the wrong time. If it had been released with the other mini-musical shows, it would have had better footing, but it dragged in the dust of Amphibia and The Owl House. There's an air of expectations around it that it can't shake off.
Simply put they don't push the show as well as they push BCG. They delayed episode releases to prioritize other shows and that affected viewership. It's all the distribution's fault.
It doesn't do as well as Miraculous because it's not a toyetic action show. Both have completely different audiences.

I'll give you they don't rerun it as much as Big City Greeens or Miraculous but having episodes delayed is something Big City Greens is very familiar with. Heck, the latest season got delayed so long that what was supposed to be he Halloween special ended up being the first episode of the season shown because of how long it kept getting pushed back. It gets regular breaks and delays like every other Disney animated show. And freaking hell man, Miraculous gets nothing but delayed episodes. Everything comes out without warning and randomly out of order half the time.
No fricking clue. Molly McGee should've been a rousing success. The fun, colorful art style & animation, the timely, character-rich stories, the catchy songs, and the occasional subversive jabs at classic fairy tale endings made it feel right at home with the modern Disney brand.
But this is the same timeline where The Owl House was cut short despite having a huge following long before that show even premiered. Molly McGee wasn't as controversial, sure, but it clearly wasn't as popular either. These things happen, I guess…

Fair. Not sure what magic Big City Greens had that Molly McGee was lacking, though. Four seasons and a movie is CRAZY. This was already rare for Disney TV cartoons back in the 2000s, but even more so now.

I think it was decently successful, just not enough. This show had one of the top animation studios doing it. It had musicals and numerous guest stars. Yet it routinely placed after other shows (even Kiff beat it a few times) and the latest top 20 D+ streaming release had it placed well after pretty much everything else on the line up that's been airing this spring including Kiff. I wouldn't be surprised if Hailey beats it next month (which would be really bad, because I think HOI has had a mostly weak and poorly timed opening). The show has lost a LOT of inertia since season 2 and I think both Ollie and a string of boring episodes are to blame.

I've ONLY found the episodes with Ollie boring, and there haven't been that many in S2 so far. This season's been mostly solid in my eyes. Every character's gotten some good focus aside from Pete. I'd like another "Twin Trouble" or "Ice Princess" before the show is killed off for good.

I've watched the show from the start, and while I do still like it, I also feel that Season 2 is unfortunately weaker than Season 1. The Chens just aren't as engaging as I hoped, and the episodes have been hit and miss.
I don't think the ghosts are bad, but I just feel that Andrea and Libby have such a strong presence that episodes suffer if they aren't there.
Not enough characters to play off each other for interesting and humorous situations,, and it's tone is a little TOO light-hearted for the same reasons for situations.
The show would be strongly improved if it was just Libby, Molly, and Andrea. Scratch and the ghost stuff never really integrated itself into the setting despite being part of the premise.

Yeah, I hate to say it, but it feels like the ghosts and the spooky element aren't really much of a draw for this show. Especially not the ghost of a creepy balding dude and his buff young boy toy.
Scratch could be funny at times especially when he is mischievous, but recently he's been bordering on grating and just a deus ex machina. The ghost world was never really fleshed out properly before Molly came in and made major changes to it (which was later credited to Scratch for some inane and really unexplained reason), so the viewer is left not really caring what went on before or after. The whole element of whether the ghosts are good or not that the show is exploring now is not being handled well. There are clearly bad ghosts and if the wrong ones get power (like the Chairman, or Jinx) it can spell a lot of trouble for people on Earth. So the show has some sort of identity crisis for what it wants to be, its a lot like late SvTFOE trying to make these weird political statements while at the same time balance some awful character relationships that change by the episode.

Andrea is an insanely popular character relative to her prominence in the show (she even got a Takeover, which has several times the amount of viewers as Libby's despite hers being done by a VA that is actually a singer) and its the biggest wake up call to Disney that their audience just wants to see spoiled rich white kids doing things, not Molly curse her white heritage because she Tony's lo mein is too spicy for her. Frick, could you imagine if they went with the original Aryan design for her? Show might've been saved.
