ok being a bit of a contrarian here but 1st version isn't 'better' but actually has a soul.
I think you need to find an angle from Bento there before you can suggest that it's worse than the original version.
Viv took advantage of animators who are for less experienced than Bento. Bento is able to make the characters consistent, but the charm of the pilot is that it's a bunch of ragtag animators TRYING to figure it out. The line weight of the pilot does help give it more life, but the construction of the characters can be put in Viv for having SHITTY character designs in general.
