Seriously, American education is subpar. Not rigorous enough and not broad enough. Europeans and Asians are often better educated and more knowledgeable about culture- including AMERICAN culture.

It's very important to prioritize general knowledge-- particularly being familiar with the Western culture canon.
The Chinese endure various amounts of censorship but they seek Western knowledge and often profit from it-- Americans have to do the same, focus on the lessons of the past that literature, philosophy, fables and myths impart

When I was a kid I went to see silent movies accompanied by pipe organ in a local theater. The General was my favorite, it was hilarious especially with the organist doing live sound effects. I wish they would be popular because I would love to go see another silent movie in its true intended format. The soundtracks on silent movies online or on DVD suck, they all sound stiff and they never get the timing right. I can see why people think they're boring when they have never seen one with live music.
