he said all the animation was finished and the rest of the work he had to do was composite the scenes. The voice acting should be finished already, there's no reason to hire a VA this late into production
this actually isn't that unusual in the professional world. VAs not coming in to do some pickups or late script revisions until the last minute and the episode ends up shipping with scratch dialog in it and it gets ADRd during post

Yeah, that looks really likely. I'd never heard of this guy before, but I went to his Twitter and he's uploaded multiple 3-6 second clips of the characters with their mouths moving in total silence. He's done the whole fricking process backwards.

NTA but logically you'd want to match what's being said with what's being shown and it's much easier and faster to hear something then draw around it rather than look at something then voice around it
Other guy summed up the motivation pretty well, but the basic flow:

>VAs read through and record finalized takes
>plot out key frames by listening to and matching the final takes
>make any revisions to the above if you absolutely can't avoid it
>fill in the rest
The audio is one of the best and most intuitive tools you have for making the animation lively, and animating first robs you of that.

Yeah, and the irony is that it's the worst thing you can do for your confidence in the long run. Shackling the VA performances to what you've already animated just makes everything stilted and the final product is going to be immeasurably worse for it.

When you actually look at it, parts he did are the worst parts of the whole thing, like the writing and the main characters.
To be fair that's what Walt Disney and Glitch did, they have an idea and just hire talented people to deliver it. Although that would mean turning yourself into the co-creator or producer and share the glory with someone else. If you are talented as an idea guy and businessman you just create your own studio and let the artists do the work for you.
