    >Headland assembled a writers room for the series by June 2021, with the group each having different relationships with the franchise, such as only being fans of the original trilogy, specifically being fans of Dave Filoni's Star Wars projects, or not being fans of it at all.[19] Charmaine DeGraté served as a writer,[20] while Cameron Squires was a staff writer on the series.[21] In May 2022, Headland said writing for the series was mostly complete.[2] She said the "female-centric" series would have a female protagonist, but would not exclude male characters or audiences. She also explained that the series would be introducing new characters and canon to the franchise that she hoped would interest existing fans, but she understood that not all fans would like it and felt that was fine due to the large amount of different Star Wars projects being produced.[22]

What's offensive about this other than "female-centric"? I don't expect it to be any good but this is very milquetoast stuff.

Hiring people who don't even like the franchise to write and saying shit like "not all fans will like it" are huge warning signs.

Maybe, but a lot of great stuff has been made by people with no prior interest in the subject. It's par for the course with TV and film, even, because you take the jobs you can.
          >"not all fans will like it"
That's just the truth at this point no matter what it is, though "I think it has something to appeal to everybody" would be better copy.

not him but most of the marvel shit that's come out in the last 3 years has been from non-fans
the witcher series was from non fans
then entire CW arrowverse was from non-fans

Not a single Marvel movie respects the comics. The first Iron Man has several scenes dedicated to making fun of comics lore.

Moral relativism. When men are no longer praised for being good, then all they'll ever be is bad. We'll all be surrounded by villains.

Nothing, they're mystery-boxing the show itself by hinting at the Sith and criticism of the Jedi. They know people like that stuff.

Because we can't have works that speak to basic human nature, like we used to in generations past. Now we have to attempt to make thinly-veiled political statements that won't hold up half a decade post-release, much less 30 years later.

    It's all so tiresome.

east asians getting their hands on star wars stories and almost always trying to make them into a yin yang balance between light and dark is never not funny
when star wars traditionally is "dark puts it out of balance and light is in balance"
It's not always their fault, because Lucas is bad at explaining stuff and most everyone who watched the prequels got the impression that the Force was a self-maintaining rube goldberg machine thing that would spawn jedi or sith as necessary to achieve cosmic balance
he gets mad in inverviews that nobody understood when he said "bring balance to the force" he actually meant "destroy evil so good wins forever"
    which he explained like this:
    >"The idea of positive and negative, that there are two sides to an entity, a push and a pull, a yin and a yang, and the struggle between the two sides are issues of nature that I wanted to include in the film."

    >using yin and yang (eastern balance concept) when the story is about the ultimate triumph of good over evil (western concept)

George Lucas's religion is apparently "Buddhist Methodist". Which implies he knows a thing or two about Buddhism for real and the elements of it in the Jedi aren't just pastiche learned from weeb cultural osmosis.

In which case it makes sense that the "light" side is already ideal and "balanced". It's not Taoism, it's classic Buddhism with space magic. Enlightenment is already beyond good and evil, but the ideal practice of self cultivation is still mostly aligned with what normal people would consider being a good nice guy. When you're high on force/enlightenment you are detached from desires and life, not balanced with compassion and sadism.

You misunderstand: she's saying the Force should be freely used by everyone, all the time, because of racism.

I always read that as "I smoked weed during the 70's in California." I don't figure he knows much about any Eastern religion, it was an aesthetic for Boomers.
