It's just that we usually get people who never even saw a glance at the source material (Hitman), hate the source material (Halo), or are suits looking for an "easy paycheck/tax write off" (the rest of them, with like six exceptions)

It was the simplest thing in the world. Just adapt RE1 and RE2.

It's actually a direct continuation of the games to certain extent, not an adaptation. They make direct references to events of characters from RE1, 2 and 5 in the form of showing camera footage of Lisa, Raccoon city getting nuked and covered up is a specific plot point, you see Tyrant being teased, Wesker dying in the volcano is mentioned, etc.
The only real change is Wesker being retconned to always having been black, and him creating multiple clones of himself, all of whom Lance plays in the show. OG Wesker is briefly in the show, most of the running time focuses on the clones.
There's plenty of problems with the Netflix series but Lance is not one of them. He's great in it.
