DeFalco (along with JDM and Michelinie) refused to bend the knee and publicly support One More Day/Brand New Day and not only refused to bash fans who want Peter/MJ married but also have stated publicly that One More Day was a mistake and that Peter/MJ should stay married.
And Slott's super fricking hates DeFalco, because LONG AGO, Slott wholesale LIED to DeFalco about being a college student to gain an intern job that Marvel only gave to college students. Spider-girl after OMD was published only in spider-man anthology books, minis, and on marvel digital store. Many might have not notice that series continued past amazing spider-girl cause of the reasons above, also stores rarely ordered minis. The timing is too conspicuous too, since it happened in time of early BND and editors were probably salty that people wanted married spider-man. Then her title ended entirely at the same time when arana became spider-girl. Again the timing is too conspicuous. Sales were never an issue, editorial frickery is. And if they bring her right now when mayday appeared in aitsv and considering the decades wait fans endured, it would fly off the shelfs. Editors know that. They don't bring her back for a reason, their personal preference.
No, Spider-Girl always had a very dedicated fanbase, they ended her title due to 'making way for Arana' (aka editors hated having a long-running title not filled with their bullshit retcons).
I would hope seeing the positivity about Peter and Mayday in ATSV causes higher ups at Disney to put pressure on the Marvel editorial to stop their bullshit, but who knows.
