Hollywood's weirdly anti-Asian in general. Think about how many actors there must be in Asia, and yet we get the same half a dozen whenever an Asian role turns up, or some hideous Americanised Asian instead. It's like they're happy to take money from Asia, but heaven forbid actually casting Asian actors in roles.

I'd also say that, generally speaking, American made movies want all audiences, and most of the audiences in America aren't asian.
The only time they started pandering to them was when China money appeared, but since Covid and other news it's dried up quick since China just makes their own blockbusters now.
It's one of the smallest racial ethnic groups in the country, it's not worth investing into honestly.
Asian markets have they're own film industries where everyone already looks like the audience. They watch western films specifically to see white people.
Not him but I've seen both and Shrek is the better film from an American perspective. I'm not sure general audiences could even follow the story. However, Tokyo Godfathers deserved a win, since it's the most straightforward Satoshi Kon film and contains meaningful social commentary and is just overall a really heartwarming film.
If academy nominated Milennium Actress, they would've done so when it reached america in 2003. Ignore the japanese release dates when it comes to academy nominations. Spirited Away won in 2002 because it reached america in 2002 (japanese premiere was july 2001)
It's funny how desperate weebs are for Hollywood to acknowledge their chink cartoons. Imagine even caring about the Oscars at this point. Also, Lilo & Stitch was better than Spirited Away.
>Normies loathe anime
What? Have you been living under a rock since 2020? You have no idea how much I fricking wish that were true. Normalgays can't leave it alone.
I think you're still living in 2010. Almost every new person I meet likes anime and manga or considers it a pretty normal baseline interest (albiet only if you watch shows for teenagers like one piece and demon slayer, if you like artsy animation for adults they'll still consider you weird). I'm incluned to say the fact that there are so many anti-anime contrarians on Cinemaphile recently proves that anime must be beloved with normies or else it'd still be well liked here like it used to be.
The academy still managed to give best picture to Parasite.
They no longer have that excuse when it comes to animation. I hope The new Miyazaki film beats Spiderverse this year just for the ass-hurt it would chase
>Milennium Actress comes out in japan on 2001, but reaches american theaters on 2003 (academy nominates japanese films on the year that it premieres in america) >they chose to nominate Brother Bear for the third slot in 2003 (the others slots were Finding Nemo and Triplets of Belleville)
What a load of bullshit
its not "anti asian", its "anti animated"
they dont give a frick about animated films so they just pick whatever was popular + pixar to win it because pixar
>NOOO MUH HECKING TRANIME!!!
Yes, I'm sure 20 minute goyslop episodes about some guy getting transformed into a little girl deserves to win
When will you understand that animation is for children?
>Parasite wins best movie >also wins best foreign movie >thus proving that every foreign movie in history could also have been best picture worthy, but somehow wasn't
As great as it was to see Parasite win, and how it increased my hope that would mean Hollywood would start to recognize foreign films for best picture - in hindsight it seems like it was more a response to do damage control for not giving Roma best pic the year before and the resulting outrage.
Let’s be honest - if Hollywood actually picked the best film of the year regardless of language or where it was made - 9/10 times it would go to a foreign film especially in the last decade where Hollywood is producing absolute garbage.
Why do asians need recognition from American award ceremonies? Why is it the responsibility of Americans to make you feel special? Give yourselves awards if you want and stop obsessing.
Japan, and honestly, the whole world, has been sitting on the American metaphorical cultural dildo since the turn of the last century. Everyone wants their approval, despite publicly stating that they don't care about it.
Western anime gays are so pathetic. So desperate for validation. Just watch it if you enjoy it, who gives a frick if a bunch of israelites didn’t give it some gay award?
>Shrek >Spirit : Stallion of the Cimarron >Shark Tale >Kung Fu Panda >How to Train Your Dragon >The Croods >The Boss Baby >Puss in Boots : The Last Wish
Only non sequel Dreamworks films that got nominated, with only Shrek winning. I don't consider TLW to be a sequel.
From what I remember, they basically chose what their kids watched and moved on from there. Now that every animator is doing asian family trauma, suddenly its okay :^)
Funny how first generation, off the boat Asian-Americans could give less of a shit about this. Meanwhile, their kids do a full 180° and claim Chairman Mao did nothing wrong.
most people in the academy watch only handful of the films nominated, animated features is probably by far the most neglected category in this regard
the are also normie midwits with no real standards
the biggest scam they pulled is somehow convincing so many people there is such a massive prestige in getting an oscar that people are actually upset over something not winning
or people being upset over the new standards of quotas of people or w/e, academy was always a joke, getting upset over this is just exposing yourself as gullible
To be fair the competition that year was abysmal: cars and monster house. Honestly looking back it might be the worst year quality wise for American animation since the best animated feature category was started.
I think the only respectable animated film I can think of overall is paprika and even that I don’t know if it was even eligible for the 2006 Oscars.
The Oscar exists only to fellate Hollywood. Toy Story 3, just another generic bullshit 3D CGI won against The Secret Of Kells, an Irish animated movie that is beautiful and meaningful.

It's like they're happy to take money from Asia, but heaven forbid actually casting Asian actors in roles.
They have to be able to speak clear English in a way that doesn't sound stereotypical, which rules most of them out.
I'd also say that, generally speaking, American made movies want all audiences, and most of the audiences in America aren't asian.
The only time they started pandering to them was when China money appeared, but since Covid and other news it's dried up quick since China just makes their own blockbusters now.

Because israelites hate asians
Jews are Asians. Israel is in Asia. All of the middle east is in Asia.
Asians won the last 3 Best Picture Oscars
Asian markets have they're own film industries where everyone already looks like the audience. They watch western films specifically to see white people.
The israelite fears the Samurai.
They handed every award they could to asians last year
Not enough troony homosexual AIDS bullshit in animus
They nominated that troony movie lightyear or strange worlds though
>Not enough troony homosexual AIDS bullshit in animus
That IS anime though
>Not enough troony homosexual AIDS bullshit in animus
imagine actually believing this. tranime was degenerate long before modern cartoons and shit
Name one anime movie from those years that deserved to win.
2013 had Wind Rises and Princess Kaguya
pixar slop is still better than ghibli slop
Even koreans had The Fake in 2013.
Kaguya is beautiful
Surely deserves more recognition than fricking Coco Pixar shit
Redline over fricking Up for one
It looks good but the movie is dissapointing
Better than Shrek 1? Frick no
Nope
Nope
Nope
I've never even heard of that it looks gay, but it's probably better than Soul so sure you got me there
>Better than Shrek 1? Frick no
You've never even watched it.
Not him but I've seen both and Shrek is the better film from an American perspective. I'm not sure general audiences could even follow the story. Imagine thinking Millennium Actress isn't better than Shrek. Paprika was better than Happy Feet in 2006 btw.
Millennium Actress
Showing it at a indie theater in my city. Can't wait.
The wind rises should’ve won over Frozen
The tale of the princess kaguya should have won over big hero shit.
I liked zootopia but your name should have been nominated and won that year.
Josee, the Tiger and the Fish was definitely better than Soul
Your Name
The fact it wasn't even nominated for anything, was pure bullshit.
shin eva
That piece of shit toy story 4 winning over Klaus was a travesty. Frick the academy.
Reminder that Shark Tale was nominated, and that it deserved to be nominated.
>Shark Tale
😐
>Shark Tale, Japan
:0
>happy feet won
lmao what a fricking moron awards glad Ratatouille finetuned the awards till frozen
2006 was a slow year. It was up against Cars 1 and Monster House.
The first Cars is way better than Happy Feet, both script and animation wise.
Monster House is an underrated movie.
Both movies is miles better than Happy feet
>a bloo bloo where is my tranime representation??
go cry about it on a
on a what
It's funny how desperate weebs are for Hollywood to acknowledge their chink cartoons. Imagine even caring about the Oscars at this point. Also, Lilo & Stitch was better than Spirited Away.
>It's funny how desperate weebs are for Hollywood to acknowledge their chink cartoons
Yup. They keep telling us it's going to destroy the West yet they crave Western validation.
Normies loathe anime. Only people who watch it are pre-teens and trannies
>Normies loathe anime
What? Have you been living under a rock since 2020? You have no idea how much I fricking wish that were true. Normalgays can't leave it alone.
Imagine being a grown man simping for anime
Sorry, I have no idea how that relates to my post. Did you reply to the wrong person?
zoomer failures working retail like anime sure. They aren't normal. They're weird and no one cares about them.
I think you're still living in 2010. Hey remember when there were countless people who still said Cory in the House and Shrek were anime?
>Imagine even caring about the Oscars at this point.
This.
Seeing this and all the garbage that has won makes me think we don't need this as an award
Isn't the Oscars about American movies anyway? Asia has its own awards.
Should have thought about that before you took over the world.
The academy still managed to give best picture to Parasite.
They no longer have that excuse when it comes to animation. I hope The new Miyazaki film beats Spiderverse this year just for the ass-hurt it would chase
Because trannies and weebs deserve it

they dont give a frick about animated films so they just pick whatever was popular + pixar to win it because pixar
Yep. It’s telling that even when the academy have Parasite best Picture they defaulted to Toy Story 4 for animated film.
Also the only reason Del toro’s darker Pinocchio film won last year was because he’s Del Toro. If it was made by joe blow, it would have lost.8TV2PM
>NOOO MUH HECKING TRANIME!!!
Yes, I'm sure 20 minute goyslop episodes about some guy getting transformed into a little girl deserves to win

Foreigners can give awards in their own countries. Constantly talking shit and yet you can't wait for an American to recognize you. Pretty funny.
Then can we just call the Oscars/Academy Awards the AMERICAN Academy awards?
After all the Japanese version of the Oscars are called the JAPANESE academy awards
Nobody told the japs to do that. They could've called their awards whatever they wanted and they chose to ape america
Oscars are not an indication of quality. Why don't people know this? It's just a shitty PR event in which the guys who paid the most get the trophy.

Only non sequel Dreamworks films that got nominated, with only Shrek winning. I don't consider TLW to be a sequel.
Why not? It's a sequel to a spin off dude. Sure it's better than a lot of trash lately.
I do like that they seem to have learned a lot of new animation styles from Bad Guys. Pixar hasn't innovated in years
Puss In Boots was a sequel though
How to Train Your Dragon losing best soundtrack to The Social Network was a disgrace.
Wallace and Grommet is better than every anime ever simple as
>Corpse Bride was also nominated that year
good year for stop motion kino
Popularity contest
>one traditionally animated film
>the rest is cgi slop
These awards really are meaningless.
>*one traditionally animated film and one stop motion film
Why do asians need American recognition?
they don't, but I think it's a nice reminder that oscars are meaningless.
>Tintin and Winnie the Pooh didn't get nominated in 2011, yet the crappily written second Kung Fu Panda film did
Come on
Worst animated film to ever get an academy nomination. The script is a load of tripe.
It's still funny that pic related wasn't even nominated considering it is the highest grossing anime movie of all time
The Academy Awards are controlled by distributors who promote their own films
Asians are very competent in a lot of things but don't mix up with the progressive agenda of the cabal.
Because Asians are a minority BUT are privileged, in sectors like arts, science, academics. Well, like israelites.
How Zootopia is better than Kimi No Na Wa and Big Fish and Begonia is beyond me
Didn't an Asian-led, Asian-directed film just sweep the Oscars this year and break records for the most-awarded film of all time?
It's made by americans. Not asians
The golden age of Japanese animation is over. All the best anime Films came out more than 20 years ago.
Glad it was nominated. It's a pretty neat CGI comedy. Tons of vibes.
From what I remember, they basically chose what their kids watched and moved on from there. Now that every animator is doing asian family trauma, suddenly its okay :^)
it's because they're not sold to chinese money like Arcane.
Funny how first generation, off the boat Asian-Americans could give less of a shit about this. Meanwhile, their kids do a full 180° and claim Chairman Mao did nothing wrong.
THE israeliteS FEAR THE SAMURAI!

Wow. Happy feet won an Oscar?
It's amazing to me that people take this moronic shit seriously.
It's Directed by George Miller homosexual, genius creator of Babe the pig and madmax which inspired 20% of all modern anime
Have you considered that anime films aren't actually that good and you're just a weeb?
>a silent voice list to the boss baby
I hate them
>Why is the Academy so anti-asian?
Because most anime movies are like.....part anime tv series adaptation
Even some of the "best anime films of all time" lose to mediocre slop like Toy Story 2. Is anime just that shit9
Toy Story 2 is good though.
The Oscar exists only to fellate Hollywood. Toy Story 3, just another generic bullshit 3D CGI won against The Secret Of Kells, an Irish animated movie that is beautiful and meaningful.
Most of the academy doesn't even watch the nominees in the animated film category. They consider it kid shit
