Wish the sequel had never been made. The Blade Runner fanbase had been getting progressively dumber over the years as it was gradually cemented as a classic in the public eye, but after the release of 2049 it dropped off a cliff. Talking to zoomers who like Blade Runner, I find time and again that they don't even understand the film on a basic level. It's odd given the film's history. 2049 is a middlebrow movie, and it's bad as a sequel to Blade Runner.

      >muh zoomers like movie
      >zoomers make grug mad
stop shoehorning your political seething into your analysis
      >2049 is a middlebrow movie
It touches on the same themes as the original but does it in a deeper, better executed way

        >political seething
What? I'm not blaming anything on zoomers, but the majority of them were introduced to Blade Runner through the sequel. I didn't even mention politics.
        >It touches on the same themes as the original but does it in a deeper, better executed way
You can make any vague statement you want. It's not true.

        >I find time and again that they don't even understand the film on a basic level.
Neither does its director, so I don't understand why you let it bother you.

A director not fully apprehending his own work is not uncommon. Artists are rarely schematic genuises. Blade Runner in particular was not really driven by Scott's brilliance as a director. It was a perfect storm kind of phenomenon.

oh no not the Blade Runner fanbase the majority of which probably didn't even read the PKD story

I think most of the og fanbase has, not that it really matters. Part of my point though.

It's weird how many people seem to get filtered by blade runner. Is it just too slow for zoomer attention spans?

The new one is mid, it starts off pretty well but just keeps getting dumber and shittier.

Most people were "filtered" by it since its release. What's odd is that it used to be considered a bad movie by general audiences but it had a marginal group of fans that loved it. Now it's a widely recognized classic, but few people seem to actually like the film.

They're both shit. The old one is an empty vapid action movie with a meaningless title emblematic of the whole picture and the new one stars a flaming homosexual.
That poster pisses me off. Looks like a train but there's no trains in this shit. It's poorly angled building shot instead of trains

      >they don't even understand the film on a basic level
It's a trashy action movie, what is there to understand about it? It has the depth of a puddle

because all the original had was the soundtrack and world building. it had no really story. nothing happened. 2049 fixed that

I really liked 2049 the first time I watched it
but after watching them both again I just don't have the same love for it. still a good movie but I don't think it's on the same level really
    Jared Leto sucks.

blade runner has shit story and acting, but good set design and soundtrack
only has one good scene at the end
also people only praise the recut that keeps the nuance and not the dumbed down version most people initially saw originally

2049 has better story, characters, and acting but looks worse and the soundtrack is not as iconic and also does not need a recut to be considered a classic movie

lol I always forget the ham-handed narration version was the original.
You do get to hear Harrison Ford say "Black folk" though

you can't refute anything i said cause you know it is true
both are flawed but one is objectively better than the other and it is 2049

What was there to refute? All you did was make non-criticisms and said what you liked and didn't like. I don't care, homie.

You can't expect the filmmakers who were around in the 80s or whatever to hold up to the artistic and technical level of the likes of Denis Villeneuve. I've seen the original and its okay, but 2049 is a modern day masterpiece, you can't really compare the two.

Because Harrison Ford SUCKS (as an actor and ESPECIALLY as a person) and I'm tired of pretending otherwise.

This is pretty much the only flaw of 2049, that they decided to put him in there.

I like both and I'm glad the sequel exists.
I'm not looking forward to the upcoming tv show though, I can't even begin to imagine how they're going to eviscerate all the lore painfully built by the movies

I just hope they're going to be a bit more racially sensitive.

Both Blade Runner movies are extremely good and if you think either one of them is bad you're a certified mental midget. Fact.

You used 2049 to help appease your insecurities and all of your mental inaptitude, literally me, it's a really bad movie otherwise.
