Why is there 0 nostalgia for pre-1991 Nickelodeon when it showed Tom & Jerry and Mighty Mouse Reruns, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Noozles, David the Gnome, Maya the Bee, the Electric Company, etc..

Most kids didn't have it back then.
That's like asking why there is no nostalgia for CN when it only showed Hanna Barbera cartoons.
Nick was considered a lame network prior to the 90s. One of the networks execs said her son was embarrassed that she ran the network and kids who liked nick were bullied.
I have a lot nostalgia for that era. There were so many shows and they were all new to me. Plus my parents and siblings grew up a lot of the shows so it let us bond. Comfy times.
Only cared about Flipper and Mr. Wizard.
To be fair, we deserved it. Became a Nick @ Nite junkie to point even boomers have no clue what references I'm citing today.
>One of the networks execs said her son was embarrassed that she ran the network and kids who liked nick were bullied.
How would they know if not a lot of kids had cable or be aware of it's existence
>why there is no nostalgia for CN when it only showed Hanna Barbera cartoons.
There is though
Pirates of the Dark Waters anyone?
Swat kats?
>there is no nostalgia for CN when it only showed Hanna Barbera cartoons.
I did, at least in the philippines.
CN was still a good channel when it was Top Kat, Popeye, Scooby Doo, Flintstones, Looney Tunes and Speed Racer reruns
Before Adult Swim, there was Toonapolooza
Before adult swim was a thing, after 8 or 9 PM cartoon network would turn into the turner channel with black and white oldies
most of their good ones were hanna barbera
CN only got good in 1997, with the first Cartoon Cartoon shows and O Canada.
Cartoon Network was always good. Until late 2001.
It was 99% reruns from elsewhere and there was very little iconic to nick stuff that seemed like it really represents the channel.
Also weekends were dominated by 50s Dennis the Menace, Mr Wizard, and whatever random leftover 70s era kids movies.
If anyone really likes something and remembers about it, it was Mysterious Cities of Gold and Sun Beneath the Sea reruns.
Because Schneider was era is literally just the Cable version of PBS just with out any good shows.
While I agree Nick should probably acknowledge shit like, America Goes Bananaz,Against the Odds, and Reggie Jackson's World of Sports, there is a reason no one rembers it
Is this the You Cant do that on Television, Pinwheel era?
You can't Do that on television
OP said anything prior to 1991.
I still remember Sponge saying “pissed” ok Salute your Shorts. Also Donkey Lips grabbing Dina’s ass.
Most casuals don’t know Pete and Pete started out as shorts on Nick back in 1989.
80s kids mostly didn’t hyper attach to childhood, except for toy nerds
All of the nostalgia I have for Nickelodeon is from before 1991.
Bitch.
Late Gen X’er here.
I always give love for You Can’t Do That on TElevision and Double Dare.
Cartoon wise, It gave us Americans a way to see Danger Mouse, Count Duckula, Mysterious Cities of Gold and Spartacus Beneath the Sea.
Hell, I still tear up thinking about the David the Gnome finale scene.
I’m surprised more people didn’t have cable in the 80s
Americans discovering danger mouse was the worst thing that ever happened to it
There's a YouTube series that goes over the complete history of Nickelodeon all the way up to 1991. Some episodes are interesting but the creator is a massive whiny c**t and can't help but inject his terrible politics and opinions into everything.
Never thought someone would bring up. Knick Knacks on this site
Most people on this site were born after 1991. As he (they? I feel like the creator would prefer to be a 'they') gets into the later years of Nick programming, more people who are in the current nostalgia cycle (90s kids) will pay attention.
If you posted this on Cinemaphile circa 2008 you'd likely get more people talking.
But look around, you are surrounded by people so young they don't even know about prime era 1990s Nick. Only oldest Gen Y and Gen X will care about pre 1991 Nick. And maybe the youngest boomers? Not sure there.
Also remember cable was somewhat of a newish thing back in the late 1970s and early 1980s and it was $$$.
You know your old when you remember both the reruns of the 1970s Tomorrow People on Nickelodeon, as well as the 90s reboot.
I remember the '70s version but not the '90s version. I stopped watching Nickelodeon in like, 1992.
I had nightmares over The Culex Experiment because my underdeveloped mind couldn't understand that there was a difference between common mosquitos and the genetic abominations from that serial.
I really loved the 90s reboot as a kid.
I used to have the biggest crush on Christine “Moose” back in the 80s as a kid.
Thank goodness my tastes grew up with my age.
I WANT THIS THREAD TO TURN INTO A GENERATIONAL ANALYSIS THREAD SO FRICKING BAD IVE BEEN HIGH ON THAT SHIT SINCE THE TIMMY TURNER PARENTS THREAD FROM FEBRUARY 2021
what do you want anon?
Probably because normalgays forgot that there was more to 1980s animation than glorified toy commercials (aside from The Smurfs and Inspector Gadget). You can thank reaganomics for grooming a generation of kids into consuming product.
