I think you think we're mad about it, but the English are so cartoonishly evil* and it's so entertaining that I can't imagine any of us are. Meanwhile, imagine the seethe if the Vietnamese produced a big-budget epic depicting them booting you out of their country, or we did a one-sided biopic of Banstre Tarleton, say.
>I think you think we're mad about it
you are >imagine the seethe if the Vietnamese produced a big-budget epic depicting them booting you out of their country,
I dont think Scots would care about that
>you are
Weird that I've quoted Longshanks to an Irish girl when I hate the film so much. >I dont think Scots would care about that
Americans would, and I'd lay good money you're an American. Most Scots are pretty chill. Well, the ones who aren't on heroin. Currently.
You have to understand, Americans get very excited about celtic nationalism because celts are the only white people allowed to be ethnonationalists in America and because the various peoples of the British Isles have been mixing for millennia most white Americans have at least one Scottish or Irish ancestor so exulting Braveheart is a way for them to have pride in their heritage, which they're not allowed to do for their German or English ancestors lest they get accused of being white supremacists.
It also allows them to claim victimhood because being a victim is the highest virtue in 21st-century America.
Celts are just as included in the white supremacy narrative. Irish get no pass, nor do Ashkenazim despite all their protests and lobbying, for that matter.
Oh, I get that. I don't get why Americans can't understand the concept of not seething over how one's nationality is portrayed by Hollywood. Also, even if Braveheart were just a charmless slog, the concept of the bad guy(s) being English is so ridiculously familiar you'd have to be completely new to films for it to be at all surprising. Case in point: watched Rush Hour for the first time a while ago, saw pic related in the second scene, and instantly knew.
About the only film I can think of that might cause actual offence to more than a handful of Englishman (though I haven't seen it) is U-571, wherein Americans apparently pass off the exploits of Brits as their own.

Except for the one based RN vet who said >well it’s an American movie after all, so of course they’ll make the heroes American. I still liked it
But Braveheart was popular in the 90s, before Cancel culture and the glorification of victimhood

anon, Braveheart ends with him being drawn and quartered after yelling FREEDOM then someone delivering a monologue about how glorious his victimhood was.

Yeah but that's why the movie was special.
Now it's like every movie with blacks or Latino in it.

I would have agreed with you 20 years ago, but it's really beyond parody at this point. There were plenty of movies about the victimization of others back then as well
i like the way it opens by ascribing potential conflicts to its history as part of british influence to undermine what actually happened, and today that very thing, it being inaccurate, is associated with the film because of the western empire's rule.
Point to one and maybe I could tell you. I've never encountered anyone who said it upset them. Maybe a boomer might grumble about the violence or it being silly or something, but that would be it.
>iMelly Sue fanfics his way into another Nations history
Didn’t the aussies fight any wars? I’d watch Mel in the emu wars but if he directed it the birds would be the hero’s and he’d be emujesus.
talking out of turn to the king meant he was naive and had no idea what the frick was going on and thus couldn't possibly be a good general, just a moronic homosexual, which he plainly was based on his appearance, him opening his mouth merely confirmed it
he knew he was a worthless swordswallower and needed to get off some steam.
imagine risking sending some random gay with an army and he gets thousands of men killed
Historical Authenticity =/= good
Historical inauthenticity =/= bad
Another pedo movie getting away with it by aging up the actress' character.
based historically inaccurate drivel vs virgin muh histry shit
It's a great revenge flick disguised as a historical epic, and much better than later efforts like The Patriot or Gladiator
They music really helped elevate it.
Because it feels great watching the English get fed shit for 3 hours straight. It's a film everyone around the world can enjoy
brown hands typed this
England is ruled by an Indian, and I'm not English, so I'm not brown
>being less than 1% Indian because one of your ancestors put his BWC in some curry dicky makes you an Indian!
Ok
ruled by Indian

assuming your way to victory
yes, even the english
because English cucks get killed
Because it was antisemitic. The British characters are israelite-coded.
Antisemitism = good.

The English are based in this film. I love it so much.
I like the part where he chucked that fairy out the castle window

Why are the people who seethe at Braveheart always so pathetic?

The Patriot is better

He has a knack for fabricating history.

Breaker Morant was already made.
>murdered 4 teachers and a wounded POW
>then dies
Wtf this us Australia's Braveheart?
>"English historians will call me a liar"
>BTFOs current day "critics" with the first line of the movie
Haha, yeah that was pretty funny considering the seethe it drew from wannabe (english) historians in the current day
