Why is this show so obscure and underrated?

Why is this show so obscure and underrated?
It's on par with "big" series like The Sopranos and BB/BCS, and easily btfos every other cop show. Including The Wire.

It's good but it has some coal burning, gay fetish shit and other nonsense that keep it from being my favourite show. I prefer True Detective or Mad Men.

Hardly as bad as characters like her are now. She was pretty laid back for most of it and bearable.

it and the wire were responses to "dry" police procedurals like law and order. the wire makes the shield look like a parody.

then as time went on brown people started discovering the shield.

      >the wire makes the shield look like a parody.
      Elaborate on that

Quality of The Shield was comparable and sometimes better than what The Wire presented

The Wire and Shield are radically different shows.

The Shield is Shakespeare tragedy tier and character driven

The Wire is a Dickensian SJW screed of a novel where the characters are just props for Simon to rant about society

As for why Shield doesn't get much love by the ignorant normie internet culture, it's because it came out before socoal media during that sweet spot where something could be popular but not consumed by the maggots that are normies who prevert and corrupt IPs with their garbage. Sort of like Venture Brothers.

That being said, critics DO love The Shield and it's widely regarded as having the better series finale compared to Sopranos and The Wire. Just because the homosexuals at TWOP (who love HBO and openly stated hating FX shows due to their snobbery meaning they refused to recap HBO's rival's shows) didn't like it, doesn't mean others didn't like it.

FX was mostly filled with mediocrity and/or garbage. Rescue Me was awful, Nip/Tuck's final seasons were trash, and Sons of Anarchy is downright dogshit.

            >Nip/Tuck's final seasons were trash

god this shit is so true
Season 1 and 2 were so much fun

the show redeems itself with the ending, if they botched it like so many other shows do, it wouldn't be as well regarded
I get critics not liking it during it's original run because it's not evident what finally happens

          these anons

FX was mostly filled with mediocrity and/or garbage. Rescue Me was awful, Nip/Tuck's final seasons were trash, and Sons of Anarchy is downright dogshit.

are mostly right, being on fx hurt it's appeal

The Shield asks a question about whether your assumptions are correct in terms of safety vs freedom, and I don't think a lot of Hollywood likes the answer.

The Shield was moronic. A great train robbery. Bombs. Running rings around the police, FBI and politicians. Cops that were basically superintelligent supervillains. I thought it was based on the Rampart scandal but it just got more and more moronic might as well have been watching a cartoon. And then the secret gay Black person cop lmao SUCK IT fricking lmao.

    bravo kino

Yep critical acclaim in its first season and then it went off the rails with complete nonsensical plots until the final season when it all came crashing down.
Between this and the wire or sopranos or other HBO kino it stood no chance.
