Hop is literally the only Illumination movie I like
No I don't like Despicable Me I actually hated the girls more than I hated the minions >you gave us back >:(
SHUT UP b***h THE SCIENTIST DID THAT GRU DIDN'T DO SHIT
>Shrek, Donkey and Fiona
Dreamworks scored a similar compelling relationship too. Audiences like this sort of thing. Bug's Life didn't have it, so it left no impact
nah, it wasn't considered "classic" even before kevin spacey's disrepute. and disney doesn't actually give a shit about what's cancelled or not, jungle book is written by rudyard kipling and that is straight up colonialism. king louis is a trope of nonwhite people, mowgli is a trope of native collaborators that work with the british as they occupy. riki tiki tavi is the same. if they cancelled peter pan it's probably because some native americans from canada started b***hing, but idpol liberals don't actually read history or they would have called for disney to cancel jungle book too. the mouse gives zero shits unless it affects the bottom line. i don't think kevin spacey affects their bottom line for voicing the villain of all things in a single movie
>Antz : october 98 >Bug's Life : november 98
Antz was originally slated for march 1999, but then they decided to win the race by working extra hours in the final months
And they're still nothing alike, the same crew can make different types of movies. They do it all the time.

both are witty adult oriented CG films with a lot of sophisticated themes and intertextuality

>intertextuality
Fricking what? You're literally just googling random words to try and make yourself sound smarter.

What the frick is intertextual about fricking Antz? That definition technically applies to Shrek even if it makes you sound like a complete gay for using it but Antz has nothing about it that would apply to that definition. And the movie about the farting green ogre is not as sophisticated as you think it is.

>adult oriented CG films
Okay. >sophisticated themes and intertextuality
I'd believe this from Antz. What the hell is "sophisticated" in Shrek exactly?

sure thing, kit. I bet you also fell very smart for watching Rick&Morty,am I right
same building, crew, workstations, producer, executive producers, music composers and head of layout
I know this is you Sharkgay maybe you should spend more times actually watching more movies instead of spamming moronic shit like this. See pic related.
>Toy Story >director : John Lasseter >producers : Ralph Guggenheim, Bonnie Arnold >screenplay : Joss Whedon, Andrew Stanton, Joel Cohen, Alec Sokolow
>Bug's Life >directors : John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton >producers : Darla Anderson, Kevin Reher >screenplay : Andrew Stanton, Donald Mcenery, Bob Shaw
not quite the same group
>1995 : Toy Story >1998 : A Bug's Life, Antz >2000 : Dinosaur >2001 : Shrek, Monsters Inc >2002 : Ice Age >2003 : Finding Nemo >2004 : Shark Tale, The Incredibles >2005 : Robots, Madagascar, Chicken Little
it's easily one of the weakest of that early bunch. Lacks engaging relationships and a strong personality
He's so fricking ridiculously broken and yet I don't understand what emotion is fueling his moronation.
Most spammers are raging lunatics but this guy does nothing but post factoids of meaningless shit.

As much as I fricking hate Sharktalegay, as stupid as his takes are, he's still obviously posting out of passion. It's like sad and irritating that he has all this passion and love for certain aspects of the animation industry yet he's so keen on putting all that passion into here of all places. Like I get that Cinemaphile is a place to discuss cartoons and comics but the guy would be so much better suited either writing a blog, making factoid videos, or something else that's actually productive. Hell if he just made a youtube channel that was just random blurbs and facts he'd probably get a decent enough following and at least have something positive to put out there. It's just sad to see all this genuine passion be wasted on something so pointless.
The problem with his “passion” is that he’s a raging moron that will choke off discussion of movies he autisticly hates like Ratatouille or Shrek 2. Not to mention how much he derails threads by just randomly talking about other movies. People here just don’t plain like him either but he insists on posting here still because of the attention.
>Toy Story had a compelling central relationship with a fun dynamic >Bug's Life had none >Monsters Inc went back to having it
it didn't take long for Pixar to realize the problem and fix it
People hates Kurosawa without blood
>Flik, Atta, Dot, Queen, Thorny, Cornelius
>Hopper, Molt, Thumper
>Slim, Heimlich, Francis, Manny, Gypsy, Rosie, Dim, Tuck, Roll, P.T Flea
not the best characters
Its the Robots/Hop of Pixar

SHUT UP b***h THE SCIENTIST DID THAT GRU DIDN'T DO SHIT
Gru still allowed the girls to be taken away
>Woody, Buzz and Andy
>Sulley, Mike and Boo
>Marlin, Nemo and Dory
it lacked a compelling central relationship
>Shrek, Donkey and Fiona
Dreamworks scored a similar compelling relationship too. Audiences like this sort of thing. Bug's Life didn't have it, so it left no impact
>Flik, the circus bugs, Dot
If you count all the circus bugs as one, even including Molt and Flea.
Hopper's voice actor

overshadowed by a much cooler and less saccharine insects film. No cutesy kid appeal characters like Dot and her friends here
I thought it's the other way around, Antz got overshadowed by A Bug's Life that released around the same time.
>Antz : october 98
>Bug's Life : november 98
Antz was originally slated for march 1999, but then they decided to win the race by working extra hours in the final months
Frick off Sharkc**t
very different films
Neither left a lasting impact in the grand scheme of things. If anything one movie is mainly remembered because of the other.
Antz was the prototype of Shrek, so it did leave an impact
>Antz
>prototype of Shrek
What do they have in common besides being CG films?

We’re in weedtopia!
Frick off Sharktalegay
It had the problem of being in-between two Pixar movies that mogged it.
>overshadowed
I was a wee baby when both movies came out and there was more merchandise on Bugs Life than Antz.
Because it's message is 'The Masses vs the Oppressive Minority' which is VERY BAD for corporations and even governments.
>So who's the REAL Chosen People,
Hopper?
>Toy Story

because aesop's fables are too based and marxist speeches are too based for corporate shills, who suck up to and/or are part of the ruling class
These Black folk were pretty much a warband, why they didn't subjugate other colonies?
>88 mins long without credits
it drags a bit
Antz is 10 mins shorter
The answer is simple: it didn't have any engaging relationships. It's a very dry, very political comedy.
No likable characters. No memorable music. Commie themes.
>No memorable music
WAS A BUG. LITTLE BUG.

So did people give up calling out Sharktalegay or are there too many newfrens that don't know better?

Alright folks time to hide the thread

Canon incest romance.
Don't you mean Canon INSECT romance.
Only John Lasseter liked it because he directed it, much like how only he liked Cars 2 because he directed it.
Also, it was ugly.
Ratatouille producer also directed Cars 2, so Lasseter shouldn't get all the blame
Princess atta is cute though.
