When I first read Invincible I thought that was the point/joke; the Viltrumites are like a bunch of old-timey British colonialists and their invasions are just them being expansionists.
The bottom shot is not only more canonically correct (the top implies that Viltrumites are a single race), but the change of making him a soldier rather than a commander better supports the narrative that Nolan is just following orders.
One could argue that that demoting him takes away his agency or implies he's less competent, but I think all of the numerous displays of his power and ruthlessness leading up to the reveal makes up for it.
There are dozens of things to complain about when it comes to Invincible's adaptation, this three second scene change really isn't one of them.

Because the principles of eugenics are about reaching genetic and phenotypic perfections. Viltrumites were shown to be xenophobic so we know that they discriminate. Unless their psychology is wildly different from humans (which we know it's not THAT different), they would pick a certain skin phenotype as more desirable and another as less desirable. Thus they would select for one and cull the other.
There is zero indication in the comics that viltrumites give 2 craps about preserving any specific phenotype. You're projecting human morality onto an alien race that only cares about physical strength.

Gave me Engineer from Alien/Prometheus wise. They more or less tried what you proposed with species that they themselves created throughout the universe, humans included. It's extremely simple. Women spend more money than men, on average. That's it. They just spend more money. It doesn't matter how much more money you make than them, because on average they spend more.
To dig a little deeper, the "wage gap" isn't that big. More women are graduating college than men and it's been that way for almost three decades, so lot's of women are getting decent jobs. The main factor in the "wage gap" is the very very very very very tiny percentage of the male population who are extremely wealthy, as their wealth greatly skews the percentages. If you look at individual professions, at individual levels, women and men earn the same money for the same hours for the same work. So for the average citizen, men DON'T really make more money than women.
Also, there is a way for a woman to spend money that is not hers. Married women are able to spend their husbands' money, and frequently do so, but very rarely do you see men spending their wives' money in the same way.
Viltrumite society is already "bad" enough, they didn't want every fricking blog and shitty nerd news site drawing parallels to classic white imperialism.
