Plenty of great movies from the early 00s, certainly far more than the last 10 years combined

The early 2000s was a black hole for all media. Movies, music, video games. Everything was dumbed downed to appeal to the masses. That's where it started.

    >Spider-Man 1 and 2
    >Shrek
    >The Lord of the Rings trilogy
    >American Psycho
    >The Incredibles
    >Mulholland Drive
    >Spy Kids
    >Hulk
    >Freddy Got Fingered
    >Finding Nemo

Way more great films released in the early 2000s than the 2010s/2020s.

You're a core millenial normie nerd larper that came of age during the era of the dumbing down and normiefication of nerd culture and you're actually nostalgic about it but you don't realize your tastes were formed during the worst era of nerd culture and all your opinions are the worst of any generation or group of people ever and you don't realize it.

Imagine calling the early 2000s the worst era of nerd culture when the current MCU exists. You're a fricking moron.

You're obviously too young to remember what it was like before the year 2000. Stop larping as a nerd normie.

I forgot to mention modern Star Wars, Star Trek and now LOTR as well. To call the 2000s a worse era to be a nerd in is just wrong.

The current state of these franchises are directly caused by the normie nerd larpers of the early 2000s. Who do you think is making them? Your entire cohort is the cancer that killed everything.

I was a nerd before 2000. I remember getting made fun of for liking Batman post-Schumacher and then seeing all the kids wearing Batman shirts to school in 2006 after Begins came out. there's truth to what you say, but that doesn't change the fact that the Raimi Spider-Man films are the best superhero films to date.

Lol no you weren't and no you don't. Your timeline makes no sense. And raimi spiderman is shit. Stop it.

I was 6 in 2000. The hate from the Schumacher films lasted right up until Batman Begins came out. Why is Raimi Spider-Man shit, though, in your opinion? Also, are you white? Still haven't answered me on that.

                >I was 6 in 2000

Then you're not old enough to have a frame of reference of nerd culture before 2000. You're viewing the early 2000s through your nostalgia goggles. If you ask anybody old enough to remeber the 80s 90s and 2000s they'll tell you everything went to shit post 2000. It was a really bad time. Only people your age remember it fondly.

You got me on that. I guess I was a Batman nerd after the year 2000 though, never really cared about Star Wars or Trek that much. Didn't change the fact that I got a lot of shit for liking Batman: The Animated Series just because of the movie Batman & Robin. So in a way I was still getting shit for liking nerd shit. My dad was also a big comic nerd growing up so I can sort of identify with that. i just think the Raimi Spider-Mans captured the essence of the character really well.

I really hated tobi maguire as Peter Parker. His acting was completely flat and I hate the doe eyed look on his face. The first movie was OK in terms of capturing the origin of the character. I found the sequels unwatchable. They never hold my interest.

That was me and star wars, video games, and anime. Sound like a hipster but got made fun of for that shit in the 90s too. Now everyone likes it and it's gay as frick.

Honestly it was mostly the editing style, the early 2000s (especially action movies) had this awful style, usually came with some terrible music choice too

As a child in the 90s being into nerdy stuff was not a socially bad thing. Even into middle and high school it became the norm for everyone to be into formally nerdy stuff like video games, pc games, anime, and super heros.
Though I did not experience being made fun of or outcast for liking these things, i do remember people being 5ish years older being surprised, and sort of annoyed that i wasnt getting the negatives they got for being i to these things. Sort of like this thread.
Of course some of this depends on where you live. I was in Washington state during middle and high school.
