Also, why change popular character driven franchises from male to female ? It's almost as if it is entirely politically driven, since there is zero monetary gain from losing your genre target audience in favor of a target audience that still won't see your movie.
More men than women went to see flops like 'The Marvels', 'Madame Web', 'Birds of Prey', 'Charlie's Angels' reboot etc, movies that were made for the phantom female superhero audience. Holy shit, Mad Max, Road Warrior and Beyond Thunderdome...like I said, the entire series, there are many reasons to love these movies and the end result of all that is the fricking movies themselves, just go and watch them and decide for yourself. Given your reluctance, I doubt you'd appreciate them.
1st movie was an extremely low budget movie with great direction and even better stuntwork, great vehichles and characters, simple revenge story ultimately but set in a pre societal collapse australia...anything I say will spoil the films.
2nd movie, "The Road Warrior" is an absolute classic that is universally loved, doubt there's a single person that's seen it that would say it was shit.
3rd movie is a nice end, although it suffered from some issues during production and was a step down from Road Warrior, but is still an enjoyable film. A big appeal is that as crazy as these movies are, they're fairly grounded, Fury Road however takes it in a more comic like direction unfortunately.
Also, the Interceptor, frick the delorean, frick any other movie car, Max's Interceptor is the single best movie car in all of it's tiny amount of screen time, even when its battered or wrecked. Mel Gibson also in his prime, and no Hollywood involvement across them...1st and 2nd at least, just great aussie cinema...so just go and fricking watch them and make your own mind up if you have the attention span to sit through them.

I just mean coming from Road Warrior, not that it's a bad film, I love Thunderdome a lot more as I got older, nothing beats the original three movies.
I also think Fury Road would have been better with Mel Gibson, I just wish it kept the grounded feeling of the first three movies instead of the vibrant colours and general comic like look about it, still enjoyable though.
