Because everyone just ignores that Sam being his own man with his own superhero name and gimmick is way more interesting for his character than just being Captain America: You Are a Black Man Edition. And that's just for starters.

I don't get how people just slurp up "Hero: Minority Edition" all the time instead of calling for more actual original characters to get their time to shine, both the ones that already exist and newer ones that could be made. Kinda shits on a character when they're only worth something as a pre-existing symbol made by someone else they will literally always have to live up to even if they carve out their own niche, and this goes for nu-Falcon too.

Y'know, everyone loved Blade and I bet the franchise could've gone on if Wesley Snipes didn't spend 90% of filming smoking weed and being a dingus.

I'd like it if they explored other cultures too.
Like when they introduced Sigurd into Thor comics, and made him a black man.

Like, why? Why not introduce an interesting African pantheon and expand people's cultural knowledge? Why do the ultra lazy thing of making a Norse mythological hero black? African Folklore can be pretty cool.

This is an important point- Falcon is Marvel's first Afircan American superhero (Black Panther is older, but is African African.) But being a replacement for Steve Rogers is seen as an 'upgrade' even though he's like the fifth guy to have a storyline about that. He is now Black USAgent.

On the movie itself, it's much more that Sam Wilson has been a pretty bland MCU character overall, combined with a general decline in interest in the franchise post Endgame.

I'm not black so I guess my perspective on this is limited, but I always thought Falcon looked cooler and had cooler powers than Captain America. Specially when they give him the cool transparent laser wing shit. So I always thought this seemed like a downgrade specifically done for sentimental reasons. The shield doesn't work the best with his existing tool kit anyways, even when he throws it.

The MCU has a tendency for giving the characters an honest to god great looking-comic accurate suit at the end only for them to can it on the next entry. Happened to Sam and Kamala and will pobablt happen to Spidey.

Hell, even Fox did it with Apocalypse.

    >y'all need to stop calling them terrorists and do better *flies away*
The funny thing is that since movies get test screenings while shows don't, this time his shit work was put under scrutiny and they've had to reshoot most of the film.

Imma be honest. It's the powers or lack there of. To me this homie is LAME. Who tf wants to be Falcon. All he can do is fly. Newsflash Black! Everyone on the Avengers can fly. He's not smart, strong, charismatic, deadly, powerful. The dude is as bland as white bread.

I personally was never that fond of Mackie. But that has to do with Mackie, not that he happens to be black. If Mackie had been Killmonger and Jordan was Sam and was the new Cap, I'd be totally fine with that. I still wouldn't waste time watching it in theaters but that was true of EVERYTHING MCU since Endgame which was just a major uninteresting slog. And because I don't count NWH as MCU slop.

      >Why so much
But almost all of it is due to /misc/ tards:

      Sam is black.

Because everyone just ignores that Sam being his own man with his own superhero name and gimmick is way more interesting for his character than just being Captain America: You Are a Black Man Edition. And that's just for starters.

No it was after. And it was only after Nick Spencer started writing him.
Rick Remender's 1 arc with him as Cap was good and so was the recent Symbol of Truth series.

I'll admit to being a marvel casual as far as deep diving into Falcon but I'm positive it's Mackie as an actor, as a hero, I'm not fond off. His BTS makes him sound like an annoyance. His promo interviews did as well. There's loads of IF and EG crap I never bothered with because there were so many actors I didn't have any interest in hearing about. But he and RDJ were both top of the list.

Because he's not Captain America. He's Falcon. And trying to make him Captain America just undermines them both. Falcon is a good hero and his name, the name he created for himself is the one that deserves to be well known and recognized alongside the other heroes.

It's not difficult to figure out.

Steve Rogers a Captain America was written by comic fans who made the character represent America, fight for America, defend & protect America, and positively reflect America.

Sam Wilson as Falcon America is written by pompous white leftists who make the character denounce (white) America, shame (white) America, condescendingly scold & lecture (white) America, and negatively vilify (white) America.

Gee whiz...I wonder why nobody likes this elitist, judgemental crap?

To be fair, Remender wrote a pretty interesting book for the first 6 issues. He just didn't survive the handoff and eventual transition to live action. He was received much better than Iron Heart or Whor, because he was actually next in line after Bucky did his turn.

    >But they showed him tossing it against a dummy.
Look if you're picking ultimate Frisbee teams I'll give him first pick but no amount of practice is gonna let you toss that thing and dismantle a jet. Steve practiced to get finesse to ricochet shit not to get the basic strength needed to huck it around.

Falcon being Cap isn't wrong. Captain America more than most heroes is meant to be a symbol and ideal, so anyone who represents those ideals can take on the mantle. The problem is making him the poster boy for forced diversity rather than true equality.
