I've often wondered the same thing. It could be incredible in the right hands.

But who would be qualified for such a task? I can't think of any directors I'd want at the helm.

Two Ridley Scotts, one from 1992 to direct and one from 2012 to produce.

        They would cheesify it.

        aronofsky

This makes more sense than the Scott brothers, but he tends to be a bit too heavy-handed for my tastes.

That depends on the writer. Ridley Scott's visual direction is very tasteful when it's not coated in contemporary grading memes.

If he didn't have Parkinson's, he would be my choice. But given the massive scope of the film, it would probably be too much for him.

Ingmar Bergman could've done it but he's dead now.

      Maybe Terrence Malick?

If it was Malick it wouldn't be released until 2046 and there would be 2.5 hours on unreleased footage

Malick is too pure for Paradise Lost. Let him film his Christkino that will save humankind.

Woah, I always thought Gilliam was a bong. In fact, if you told me to name the bongiest of bong directors, he would have made the top 5.

Probably because even though technology has reached the point in Hollywood to depict Paradise Lost, the movie execs in Hollywood don't want to be apart of anything regarding Christianity.

All Biblical epics with massive budgets made within the past 10 years.

Frick off with your victim complex.

But yeah, the war on Christianity continues to rage. We're not even allowed to say Merry Christmas anymore. Pretty soon they'll be tossing Christians into concentration camps.

Interesting how all these biblical epics always use stories from the old testament, never the new testament

It's not interesting because it's not true.

If the church is so autistic about canon, why do Catholics enjoy this fanfic? Wasn’t this story also shit on when it came out for Milton’s depiction of Satan?

Artistic works aren't considered "biblical canon," wtf. If you make one badly you will get shit, if you make one that's artistic and enlightening you will get praised.

Also Paradise Lost is protestant. Catholics will read it, but it's a bigger part of the Protestant literary canon.

      It's a rip-off of Wendigoon's novel: Blood Meridian.

Man being kicked from the Garden of Eden and Satan being a tragic fallen hero. It's incredibly long winded but with some great descriptions of set pieces.
