Why was he so impossible to work with? It was his first, and,as we know now, his last major role.

Why was he so impossible to work with? It was his first, and,as we know now, his last major role. You would think that a beginner would be more humble ,and accept this opportunity, not destroy his future career. I kinda understand when Marlon Brando or some other Star with stellar resume play diva on stage, but a complete beginner? That was hard to explain to me.

    >he got pissed because he wasn't promoted from Ensign in the show
Are actors fricking moronic? George Takei did the same shit. He insisted that Sulu be made a Captain for Star Trek 6 and get his own ship. Shatner even said to him "George, why do you want Sulu to be a Captain when all the action is on the Enterprise?"

Been awhile since i watched Voyager, but ensign kim ran the Ops/Sci/Comm station and was always the one to give the bad news that senior staff dealt with? Did he ever get a happy episode of his own?

He had a few, there was the one where he was in command of a medical transport, that was fairly good.

Details like this matter to people, and to fans. It's not fictional when it forever controls how people treat you regarding your job. And he said, Tuvok and Paris were getting promoted multiple times. It was just him who had been chosen to be the butt of jokes at the bottom of the rank ladder.

Everyone on TNG and DS9 got their fair share of acting, in voyager there's only the captain, the doctor and 7o9 everyone else was abandoned.

I don't think Garret was an issue on set. The worst I've heard him say was he would occasionally turn up late because he had been out all night partying at nightclubs, they run a tight ship on those Star Trek sets, everything is micromanaged to an autistic degree. He was also the only young member of the cast without kids or a wife. The executives at Paramount were notoriously cut throat and as many know Garret only avoided getting thrown off by his people magazine cover thing. After Voyager he seemed just content to potter about enjoying his money.

Star trek was an AAA franchise back then, being a regular main cast member is like winning the fricking lottery, even for established actors like Patstew. The reason Kim was never promoted and never got laid is because the writers hated the unprofessional moron. They were planning to ditch him in S3 but he got on the cover of a magazine and they got rid of the cute drunk instead.

        >Star trek was an AAA franchise back then
Man, yeah, it's easy to forget that back during TNG/VOY/DS9, Star Trek was the biggest thing on TV instead of just a dumb thing for nerds.

If I pretend MacFarlane made LD as a labor of love parody and Orville is supposed to be the new canon series, I can be happy.

Cinemaphile is a democracy of ideas. Good ideas bump up and bad ones sink. Your general was a bad idea and didn't have what it took to survive. Not my problem.

    >Why was he so impossible to work with? It was his first, and,as we know now, his last major role
He revealed his hand on the Delta Flyers podcast. By dint of the Bermudan educational system, he was a college freshman at 15. He was a Doogie Howser wunderkind and didn't have time or opportunity to develop his social skills properly. No one in a university would treat a 15 year old seriously so he never got the chance to learn how to work with people.

I heard Garrett Wang dated Sarah Gadon. Can anyone confirm?
