Why was The Force Awakens so well received compared to the other two sequels? It's literally the worst one.

It is most bearable one.
Reminder all nu wars is homosexual shit
Because (most) Star Wars fans just wanted empty 'memberberries
And if you want mediocrity this is what JJ will give ya
When you watch it for the first time you tend to overlook its biggest issues. It's very fast and exciting and it's only when you stop to think about any of it that you realize it's all very, very dumb. Plus when Harrison Ford comes on screen it kinda becomes the Han Solo movie and no matter what you think of his death - Ford's got so much fricking star power and charisma that you really only pay attention to him (no offense meant to anyone else on the cast - they're all talented as well.) It's only now in the context of it being the first entry in a trilogy that you remember all the other stuff and how they blew it in the sequels/it wasn't even good to begin with and you tend to forget that Han Solo was even there.
Rise is the worse one. it's insulting. TFA is lame and started things off shitty. Last Jedi actually tries to be a movie and therefore is the best one.
Ryan you suck.
Rise is kino.
>compared
You can't really compare an original Squeakquels™
The hate for this movie seems very forced, and only started after TLJ came out. Seriously, what's wrong with it? It was everything a new Star Wars movie should be.
>muh New Hope clone
What, because they blow up another "death star"? It's different enough to feel like its own thing. Some times, being safe is not a bad thing. TLJ was too different and you cried anyway.
Let me guess, you're gonna throw some meaningless buzzword at me now.
Worst one is Ryan one. And this one was overall just a weak set up, further ruined by Roundhead.
>It's different enough to feel like its own thing
It's in literally every way a copy of A new Hope no matter how much you've heard that already. There is nothing making this "feel like it's own thing".
The prequels felt like its own thing, and they were hated for it. So out with new creative ideas, and in with safe, bland regurgitations of the same movies you've already seen
Why on earth would someone trot out such a blatant lie? Even when the minutia is altered, such as the captured rebel who put plans in a droid getting freed early, it still doesn’t change them ripping off the same point later, such as Rey getting captured to be the Leia stand in (except better) to give the protagonists reason to go to the NotDeath Star.
The only substantial changes (I.e the hentai vore monsters, or NotVader losing the climactic duel) only served to make it worse.
And now you mention TLJ, that was ALSO a shameless ripoff that got worse every time it deviated, and no amount of ebin subversion helped change how much ground they’re retreading. How about make an original fricking movie?
>It was everything a new Star Wars movie should be.
It undid everything the previous movies achieved right in the first sequence.
>TLJ was too different and you cried anyway.
It just copied ESB and the throne room from RotJ.
If you genuinely can't see the countless ways they ripped off A New Hope, all you have to do is search "TFA ANH parallels" on YouTube and some midwit will explain it to your below average ass
There's always been something uncanny and vaguely sinister with The Force Awakens to me. Like it was made entirely out of hate. I can't even say that about The Last Jedi, which was written and directed by one man with his own perspective on the franchise. TFA just feels like it was designed to be a Star Wars movie where everything feels wrong and out of place. The subsequent movies at least attempted to make the most out of what was established in such an awful first film.
Ryan you suck x2.
This. Creepy skinwalker movie. TLJ goes out of its way to not be fun and is of course the heckin subsversive midwit fart huff entry, which by default makes the entertainingly ridiculous TROS the best Disney Star Wars.
there are literally hundreds of videos analyzing the sequels in youtube by "movie critics" start there
Because nostalgia and hype. Plus it was pretty inoffensive. (If you consider blatantly rehashing previous movies inoffensive)
Point is, mainstream hated Prequels and wanted the same as the old trilogy again, JJ delivered and gave them the same thing repackaged with lens flares.
However, how actual movie critics can possibly look back on this and not hate this bastardization of film that helped ruin the entire medium is beyond me.
TFA was kino
The Hype train was fricking immense, and despite what lil’ zoom will tell you, the lack of Lucas added to that.
It was only when the honeymoon period faded, and was later torn to shreds by TLJ, that normalgays started to realise it kneecapped the ST from the word go
It's the least offensive because it plays it safe and people were still optimistic about what it could lead to.
People (including myself) gave it a pass because it was their first movie.
It was exciting knowing it was starting again with the original cast. Such a shame they blew it.
Was a nice memory taking my 10yo to see it.
A reminder that Joker made more money at the box-office in 2019 than Rise of Skywalker. Star Wars is finished, just like Marvel.
The spectacle of the movie existing at all was more than enough to carry it.
Hype was truly immense. And the fact that the final trailer for TFA was legitimately unironically one of the better executed trailers in recent times. It's still a great trailer on its own actually
Nostalgia. And TLJ broke it.
Because it wasn't offensively bad, just bland and soulless. And for many viewers (like RLM), a bland remake of the OT was enough to enjoy.
Star Wars fans didn't receive it. Normies did, but they didn't buy its merchandise. True fans avoided it like the plague!
because OT gays are moronic
You're not paying attention, The POO Awakens merchandise ended up as land fill!
The Prequel Merchandise Made Billions!
The trailers were better than the movie. I remember being so hyped to see it, only to be disappointed.
I love this movie. It made the decision to not watch any other Disney Star Wars thing very easy for me. I'm truly thankful
I like how people try to make sense of the sequels like they're rape victims or something. Disney flipped your favorite universe like it was a cheap slum house. They bought Star Wars and slapped together some shit ass story because they knew they could make money on it no matter what. End of story. It's not your fault. They didn't do it to spite you. They bought it, put some cheap counters and flooring in it and sold it back to you.
I can’t believe people still delude themselves like this. If they’d sincerely wanted to sell it I the short term they’d have made every movie similar to TFA; bland retreads that shove in enough fan service to keep cognitive dissonance on their side and prevent people poking holes in it.
If they’d wanted long term sales they’d have bothered to hire a writer who can actually write.
They didn’t do either.
Because people are morons and unable to recognize a movie with no creative merit that leans on nostalgia for the past and hollow promises for the future.
Audience gullibility. Plus any critique of TFA was met with "well wait and and see, you can't really judge it until episode 8 comes out. I mean episode 9."
