As generic as it was, I quite liked the movie.

Executives. A lot of scenes with dad rock originally were supposed to be game music remixes.

There was music from the games, this one plays when the movie shows inside bowser's castle

"We need to appeal to US, the boomer executives!"
That generation needs to get over Take On Me.

Rally Road Racers did a better job with that song this year

I still can't fathom why they used a song about having a one-night stand for fricking KART RACING.

The comic guy in the music video is a racecar driver.

Sure, because when people watch the music video that's what they take notice of. What a flimsy fricking excuse.

They didn't use it because it fit, they used it so old people can smile and clap along with their kids. If they genuinely thought about boomer songs that would fit they would've used something like Kick Start My Heart or Born to be Wild

They figured the kids would turn out no matter what so the music and story was aimed at the 30-40 year old manchildren market who actually remembered the pre SNES US made Mario backstory of them being New Yorkers which the movie heavily borrowed from. It even left in a random gag from the Super Show about their uncle Tony who kept eating everyone's food.

It’s a reference to all of the pop music that played in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show.
After all, this movie was a modern adaptation of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show.

Based take but SMBSS unironically had a better take on Mario and Luigi as characters. Most people dont remember the Kenny Logins or MJ tracks from this. It was nuts how much one show got as far as music.

There is an official OST with orchestral remixes of music from the Mario franchise. Pay attention.

You know that montage at the beginning felt very rushed. I think the movie wanted to yaddah yaddah yaddah Mario's skill level, but he was already good at jumping when he was back in Brooklyn.

Peach’s obstacle course was a completely different beast than some little construction site in Brooklyn. If anything, Mario making it through the construction site with little problem explained how he was able to master the obstacle course in just one night, which is itself impressive.

This movie was a real and godawful mistake. Easily the worst or the second worst Illumination movie ever. And I enjoyed Minions The Rise of Gru.

Because I rather stick with the boomer's music instead of the ACTUAL modern music, why the frick do I want to listen to annoying ass zoomer music and Black person rap shit? They need to gas the zoomers only the ones who suffers of brain rotted and I can see so many in this thread already.

I meant that kind of Black person rap that talks about murdering, raping, stealing, drugs etc etc. I know some raps are rad but most talks about Black folk doing Black person stuff.
