It sucks that they got rid of the comfy bumpers.

I miss it so much. Old Hanna Barbera cartoons are fun to catch on TV but I can't be bothered to find them online and binge them.

I miss it too. Watching it slowly decay from a haven for classic/forgotten gems to a dumping ground for licensed and acquired content was miserable. There was always something comfortable about watching so-so content from a bygone era while I'd draw or hang out with my family.

They had even replaced the bumpers that had the old guy speaking with a small child narrator.

Yeah, that and the visual rebrand really made the channel feel like kiddie stuff. Not saying it wasn't before, but there was something about the way they presented the content that made it feel more "tasteful" than the hyperactive Noods and sugar-addled bumps that CN was doing post-CN City.

To free up Cartoon Network for more “original” slop content like KND and Out of Jimmy’s Head

This. Don’t bother watching any cartoon made before the early 2010s, it’s all boomer bullshit. I actually talked a granmother out of buying a Bugs bunny DVD for her son, once at the Wal-Mart I worked out. I told her she shouldn’t force old bullshit on children and convinced her to buy SVTFOE instead, and he seemed much more excited.

See what I mean? Boomer bullshit being forced is traumatizing. No sane person under the age of 40 likes any cartoon bullshit made before the 2010s. I’m sorry Boomerang traumatized you…you deserve better. No on likes pre 2010s cartoons, and any kid who does was forced to watch them by boomer parents who deserve death. I shit on BOOMERang’s grave for the damage it’s caused. Frick Looney Tunes, frick PPG, Frick Dexters Lab, Frick the Flintsones, frick all boomer bullshit fricking shit. Everyone here on my side, it seems.

Wait you're serious? I thought you were trolling and being funny

I can see their perspective but am surprised by the anger in their responses. I never had a problem retiring classic cartoons to an archive

Industrycuck has been here for a long time, if it’s not b***hing about cartoons made before the 2010s, indie cartoons, or Genndy, it’s milf posting like

          >”You know, I could be watching cartoons like this like my pathetic husband, but I actually have a date. I haven’t been in work for some time, and I can’t wait until they all show up.”

    >Turner Broadcasting System built up an extensive catalogue of MGM and early Warner Brothers cartoons in the 1980s.
    >Boomerang was created as a new home for these and similar cartoons. It originated as a programming block on Cartoon Network that debuted on December 8, 1992.
    >With Cartoon Network downplaying its archival programming in favor of newer original series, Turner Broadcasting System launched the Boomerang cable channel on April 1, 2000.
OP, if you want to have a Boomerang thread, at least put some effort into it.

When CN began in 1994, it exclusively showcased Hanna-Barbera, Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, MGM, Rocky & Bullwinkle, old Fleischer/Betty Boop/Black and White stuff

Boomerang began as a bloc in 1998 on weekend mornings and late at night to showcase Hanna-Barbera classics that were increasingly being sidelined by CN Originals, Kids WB Shows, etc..

When Adult Swim and anime took the network by storm, they basically phased out all classic stuff besides Looney Tunes/Tom & Jerry/Scooby Doo. So Boomerang (originally a bloc) became its own network to basically be what CN was when it first launched.

As for the state of the network today, it's a complete mess and just another victim of network decay.

For zoomer kids like me who had to hang out in houses full of drugged out boomers and put on Boomerang because they like it too. When they rebranded in 2014-2015 I was fricking pissed, especially since they ditched the old catalog for the same three shows playing on repeat and used the channel as a CN graveyard.
