Because their live action stuff were big hits that created child stars that they could market into future stuff e.g. other Disney channel shows, Disney movies, usually a music career. Thats was profitable long term than animation that usually had adults voice.
95% of their original content was strictly aimed at girls and preschoolers, and most of THOSE were live action sitcoms
Blame Kim Possible and Proud Family for sissifying the channel.
