Yeah it fricking sucks. I'm just getting into the horror genre and have to sift through so much crap from 2000-2010.

90s horror was worse, 90s was the nadir of the horror genre. Nothing but belated sequels to tired franchises and teen comedies pretending to be slasher flicks.
90s horror was incredible compared to 2000s. It only looks like a step down compared to 80s horror
Bride of Chucky was cringe kino
CGI was becoming more widespread, and the easiest application of it was for ghost movies, so there's a ton of ghost movies that were cool then and aged poorly
13 Ghosts was Peak creativity and wasted potential. They poor so much effort into everything except the movie plot. It was so trite and run of the mill. They even went so far to cast dozme no name black rapper b***h just to make it worse.

The (superior) American remake of The Ring was a huge hit and spawned countless bad J-horror imitations.That crap, Saw and all the torture porn rip-offs of Saw, and and Platinum Dunes remakes are what I think of when I think of 2000s horror.
Japanese ring is better, American ring 2 is better
Japanese Ring movies are all kino, from the tv movie to the Sadako series.
American remakes are also good I like Ring 2 and Rings.

I don't really like horror all that much. The Grudge is neat though. I wish I had a Japanese ghost lady roommate, she can't be pissed off ALL the time.
