Unlike a regular nature documentary in which they try to make up a little story for everything that is going on, Herzog knows there is madness in nature, he chooses to focus on that one penguin, and nothing is explained. An ordinary director would just disregard the footage as not interesting. Was the penguin misguided perhaps? Is there a reason for his behavior? Human questions that fail to explain. Ironically, this penguin has more character than any other lion vs zebra doc that narrates their every thought as if they were people.
