just as there were once no fat Barbies, there are right now no fat Kens.
this is just a convenient in-world explanation. that nobody wants fat men and pic real are the real reasons.

This is one of the most bizarre occurrences in entertainment that I can recall.

      >a studio alters a movie and releases it
      >it's trash
      >there's a rumor of a different cut of the movie, one made by the director, that completely changes the quality of the work
      >the studio attacks anyone and everyone who propagate or support the rumor as toxic and destructive to society
      >a large number of these are presumed to be young men so, guess what, media outlets jump on board to demonize them as well
      >studio is sold or changes hands or something...
      >oh, guess what, that director's cut thing was real after all.

no apology, no mea culpea, everyone just goes on about their business as though nothing happened

      [...]
What's amazing is that when they begrudgingly released it, it absolutely dominated their streaming platform and made a frick load of money both from streaming and from bluray sales.
Despite this, wb hates it, regrets releasing it, and constantly shits on people for liking it.
Even morons like Kathleen Kennedy don't actively shit on people for liking the successful films she wasn't involved in. Like she isn't insulting people that like the original trilogy.

      >Despite this, wb hates it, regrets releasing it, and constantly shits on people for liking it.
The mentality when you're in the industry is that you know what the people want better than they do. It sounds like a joke but it isn't, it's a weird carny way at looking at the world. It's also ties into their oppression olympics narrative, "oh these are just disgruntled MEN who don't like the direction WE'RE taking things. They don't have a blue checkmark next to their name"

I know what you're thinking, how could people be so pedantic and removed from reality? The answer is Hollywood.

I used to work in the entertainment industry about 10 years ago (I dont anymore). What I observed is that everything is driven by politics and ego. The executives at the top want to fund their own personal projects and movies. They are all fighting for control. The currency is successful projects and films. When a movie they make gets successful, they use that to climb the corporate ladder. They say "See? MY project I produced was successful at the box office. I deserve more power and a promotion."

They often divide themselves into different political factions. It's very high school. Apparently the department I was working for wasn't allowed to "socialize" with the Marketing department or help them. My boss hated the marketing department and told me to stay away from them. She told me to not help them. My boss was good friends with a department head. And that department head was good friends with one of the executives at the top. Sometimes they would do lunch and had their own little group. It was all so high school level bullshit with cliques. Yes many of them were women. I saw it all over the company. Political fighting Executives never worked together. It was all political with rivals everywhere and factions gunning for power and control. I eventually left entertainment and now work in an airport helping to fix aircraft.

Snyder just belonged to the wrong political faction . That Faction lost power. So anytime the fans demand the Snyder Cut, it's like an insult to the Executives in charge. It insults their ego. They won the fight and don't want to give the losers anything. They want Snyder gone so they can execute THEIR vision and projects.

Guess this doesn't apply at Lucasfilm/Disney.

My only guess about Lucasfilm is that it's a small enough company that Kathleen Kennedy had no rivals to worry about. There's hot shot Executive rising in the ranks at Lucasfilm and threatening her position. It's just KK's own personal small kingdom and playground.

I spent a good 30 seconds thinking you were talking about some lost director's cut of Barbie.

      Anonymous

The director's cut wasn't real at the time, they paid Snyder tens of millions to make it, even re-shooting scenes and 'fixing' problems people has with some of Snyder's material from the Theatrical Cut

        Anonymous

Snyder wasn't paid millions to finish his cut, he used those millions to fund it the VFX for unfinished scenes and all the new crap he added.

Both cuts are bad. Snyders is less bad for being tonally consistent, but still a horrible movie.

It's fricking amazing that people got so incredibly worked up and $70m was spent just to turn a regular length 3/10 movie into an insanely bloated 6/10 movie, and it was basically a marketing ploy to get a bunch of nerds signed up to a shitty streaming service.
