Why would you watch gay boring movies like 8 1/2 and Solaris and Stalker when Tarantino and Scorsese movies exist?

how is pulp fiction a good movie
>inb4 it just is
Tarantino crafted the scenes in such a way that I felt the emotions he intended for the audience to feel while watching them, and I was entertained throughout. Also, despite pseuds pretending otherwise, it does portrays thematic elements and universal truths. The idea of opportunity and purpose are commons threads throughout all of Pulp Fiction's storylines. I also like the message that even the worst sinners among us can have the opportunity to turn it around, but it's up to them to take it.
>I felt the emotions he intended for the audience
annoyance at grown-up men talking like teenagers?
>I also like the message that even the worst sinners among us can have the opportunity to turn it around, but it's up to them to take it.
this is a dime-a-dozen platitude. literal soap operas peddle this message.
Ynbaw
The comedic scenes made me laugh, and the suspenseful scenes made me anxious.
isnt there 100s of movies who accomplish the same thing? including movies from the 90s?
Not with the same style or content. I actually prefer LA Confidential, Heat, Rushmore, Jackie Brown, Boogie Nights, Dazed and Confused, and The Big Lebowski over Pulp Fiction, but Pulp Fiction is still one of the best movies of the decade.
>Not with the same style or content.
and what is that style or content?
doesnt explain anything
Tarantino's style has been discussed at length by people who are a lot gaygier about le kino than I am, but basically it's a lot of showy camera work and over the top foley and quick editing and pop music. The content is irreverent neo-noir.

I am not a pleb; I am a thinking person with at least half an education on filmmaking and storytelling.
>I am not a pleb; I am a thinking person with at least half an education on filmmaking and storytelling.
but apparently not smart enough to counter the argument. lucas for example is great in star wars because he sets up a space opera fairytale and then skillfully infuses it with greek drama at which everything becomes unpredictable.
what's so good about pulp fiction? i cant seem to get any straight answer here.
Pulp Fiction is great because Tarantino sets up a crime drama and then skillfully infuses it with humor, unique dialogue, and masterful scenecrafting.
a crime drama that doesnt lead anywhere
It leads to the redemption of two men, the deaths of seven, and the humbling of one.
it leads to nothing for travolta and jackson's "redemption" is paper-thin.
a criminal miraculously survives a shoot-out and wants to leave his life of crime behind. that's nothing more than the rough idea for a plot.
him wrestling with the decision might have been interesting. him struggling to get out of organized crime might have been interesting.
what we got instead is just a barebones setup for the main characters to act fricking edgy. and that's it.
>it leads to nothing for travolta
he dies lmao. did you even watch the movie?
ah yeah he gets shot in the middle of the movie
how could i forget
>gets confused by atemporal editing
NGMI
maybe i wouldnt have forgotten if the movie was engaging. why would i care about any of these butthole characters?
You should care about all human beings, anon. Have you ever read the words of Jesus Christ?
i should not care about fictional characters that arent likeable or engaging
I find them to be likable and engaging.
only (mental) teenagers like other (mental) teenagers anon
I like everyone : )
enjoy she-hulk and rings of power
No thanks, that shit looks gay and moronic!
as does pulp fiction to any adult
Most people disagree with you, kiddo : )
>argumentum ad populum
>as does pulp fiction to any adult
You made a claim about what the population as a whole thinks of Pulp Fiction; the only possible argument against it is pointing out the fact that most people enjoy the film and your opinion is NOT indicative of how the population as a whole feels.
not autism
true autism would be posting a suummary of the plot and calling it a critique
>I personally felt this way so it is good
the state of tarantino fans lmfao
Yes. Art is subjective, and if it makes you feel something, then it is successful. Deal with it, sperg.
>this movie IS good because ummm
>actually Art is subjective okay?!??!
Lmfao get shit on kid
Art is objective
plebs also feel something watching transformers or fast & furious. that doesnt mean these are good movies.
>I hid these arguements in my ÁSS for two years, and now I'm gonna pull them outta there and give them for you
I just watched Solaris with my gf for Valentine’s Day and now I’m watching Natalie Gold react to Kill Bill Vol 2 while my gf sleeps what now?
I'm boring and gay
>Tarantino and Scorsese
That shit is dull as frick. Watch an action movie or a comedy, you nerd loser.
Tarantino and Scorsese both make action-comedies.
>why would I watch the original if I could watch the shitty american rip-off intended for 12 year olds
Hmmm. A valid question.
Because sometimes you want to watch a movie with a 90 minutes runtime and not 4 hours
Solaris is a masterpiece homosexual.
