Tarantino crafted the scenes in such a way that I felt the emotions he intended for the audience to feel while watching them, and I was entertained throughout. Also, despite pseuds pretending otherwise, it does portrays thematic elements and universal truths. The idea of opportunity and purpose are commons threads throughout all of Pulp Fiction's storylines. I also like the message that even the worst sinners among us can have the opportunity to turn it around, but it's up to them to take it.

this is a dime-a-dozen platitude. literal soap operas peddle this message.

isnt there 100s of movies who accomplish the same thing? including movies from the 90s?

Not with the same style or content. I actually prefer LA Confidential, Heat, Rushmore, Jackie Brown, Boogie Nights, Dazed and Confused, and The Big Lebowski over Pulp Fiction, but Pulp Fiction is still one of the best movies of the decade.

Tarantino's style has been discussed at length by people who are a lot gaygier about le kino than I am, but basically it's a lot of showy camera work and over the top foley and quick editing and pop music. The content is irreverent neo-noir.

                >this movie IS good because ummm

plebs also feel something watching transformers or fast & furious. that doesnt mean these are good movies.

I am not a pleb; I am a thinking person with at least half an education on filmmaking and storytelling.

but apparently not smart enough to counter the argument. lucas for example is great in star wars because he sets up a space opera fairytale and then skillfully infuses it with greek drama at which everything becomes unpredictable.
what's so good about pulp fiction? i cant seem to get any straight answer here.

Pulp Fiction is great because Tarantino sets up a crime drama and then skillfully infuses it with humor, unique dialogue, and masterful scenecrafting.

It leads to the redemption of two men, the deaths of seven, and the humbling of one.

it leads to nothing for travolta and jackson's "redemption" is paper-thin.
a criminal miraculously survives a shoot-out and wants to leave his life of crime behind. that's nothing more than the rough idea for a plot.
him wrestling with the decision might have been interesting. him struggling to get out of organized crime might have been interesting.
what we got instead is just a barebones setup for the main characters to act fricking edgy. and that's it.

You made a claim about what the population as a whole thinks of Pulp Fiction; the only possible argument against it is pointing out the fact that most people enjoy the film and your opinion is NOT indicative of how the population as a whole feels.
