Empire Strikes Back had a definitive ending with all Characters having gone through an arc that changed them on a fundamental level. Don't you even try comparing your Trash to Empire.
Hope so. The talent on these productions is next level.

You call this next level? I call this "teenager trying to copy anime as practice." If it was actually next level it would be doing things nobody has seen before, and the ideas are uninspired and so is the skill.
You clearly don't know wtf you are talking about.
Anime has as much attitude as a puddle. And thats with the advantage of using 2D drawings.
The Spider-verse films are 3D and exude more personality, style and attitude than all other animations.
You treat it like it's just a random movie. The industry treated it like God's gift to animation which is their landmark work. The results don't match their narrative.
Not really. When you break it down after theater cuts, they've made about $75m~125m in profit after you remove break even from their $571m they currently have globally now.
$100m production budget, not counting marketing, distribution, etc.
Like, The Flash costing 200 mil and making 217 mil doesn't mean they're 17m in the green. Though ATSV probably already broke even at around the 250-ish mil mark, so they're probably already good on that. I forgot where I read it, but the quick maths for film/box office profitability is production budget times 2-2.5 or something along those lines.
Yeah, it's already a success, I'm just saying it's not a "it's making 6 times its budget" success.
If they don't just fricking balloon the production budget of the third one, it'll probably be another success too. IIRC, the first one had a production cost of 90 mil to a box office of just under 400 mil and it was considered a mild box office success.
I didn’t say it was a flop, I just said it’s not doing as well globally. I think the first one did better in Japan than this one did and that actually had competition. Not everyone here is as excited at bendises success as you spiderverse guys are anon
>Disney and Pixar’s “Elemental” nabbed second place with $18.5 million, sustaining only a 38% drop in its sophomore outing despite a disappointing domestic opening last weekend. That number brings the family film’s North American total to $65.5 million
Domestic though, don't know how Intl is looking for Elemental. But all signs are pointing to it being underwhelming.

Point is, nine of these summer blockbusters will reach a billion because they released too close to each other and the GA will rather wait for streaming than to invest their cash on multiple movies, Spiderverse is the most successful obviously, but it will never reach Mario's numbers because the competition will take the cajs away from the table, one chunk at a time
I agree that this summer is way too packed for ATSV to reach a billion, even with its current legs, especially with Barbie, Oppenheimer, and MI coming out in a couple weeks, but I don't think Elemental's gonna go the way you think it does.
It’s not even that really, it needs to have stronger international appeal for that crossing. I don’t see it make 400 more million in the coming months, it’s got a chance of topping some of the raimi domestic returns but that’s about it
I'm not praising Elemental's box office, it's gonna flop hard and ofc it won't surpass Spiderverse, but it will do enough damage to it before dropping off theaters... On a better month, Spiderverse would've reached Mario numbers, but that's never gonna happen now
People are more selective with their cinema time an money now, plus there's an obvious fatigue for sequels and capeshit, why risk your hard earned cash on a theater for a trash flick when the movie will be online in a month for cheap?
They won't, don't worry. Young people don't have respect for anything they didn't create themselves. If they did, several characters wouldn't have gotten shafted to promote their OCs, Miles and Gwen. Hell, the idea of the Spider-Verse wouldn't exist in the first place.
assuming you actually meant to refer to ATSV, no, and just because of the cancerous discussion this movie has spawned ever since it came out i'm going to shit myself in laughter as a result
mariobro btw
No and thats okay
No, they jerked the audience around with this one being half a film and the sequel will make less. Complete letdown endings don’t generate hype
It’s okay because their inspiration for the cliffhanger was Empire Strikes Back.
Empire Strikes Back had a definitive ending with all Characters having gone through an arc that changed them on a fundamental level. Don't you even try comparing your Trash to Empire.
The better comparison is Dead Man's Chest
Hope so. The talent on these productions is next level.

That's kinda stereotypical
Lmao LA shill
Quit using your script for Zoomers
I do all the time. Lurk moar
Shills go into the industry resenting Cinemaphile and think more about how to get back at this place than how to make the movies good
show art
Openly displaying your shit taste and hatin personality. Bold.
Fricking awesome
sad they wasted good talent on this awful writing
>more stormtrooper aim
snooze, zero drama
I hope, i loved this movie, i think ill watch it again
China hates blacks, so no.
Why did Black Panther make a billion?
MCU + high fantasy escapism
No, it’s opened everywhere already and it’s kinda tanked globally. I thought the japs like spiderverse, it’s had a pretty pisspoor showing there
It made $600m on a $100m budget.
How is that a flop?
You treat it like it's just a random movie. The industry treated it like God's gift to animation which is their landmark work. The results don't match their narrative.
Not really. When you break it down after theater cuts, they've made about $75m~125m in profit after you remove break even from their $571m they currently have globally now.
Did you get the theater cut percentages out of your ass?

100 x 2.5 is $250m, so yes it's been profitable for quite some time
It also made over 300m domestically which is the gold standard for blockbusters
Yeah, it's already a success, I'm just saying it's not a "it's making 6 times its budget" success.

Marketing is probably on the higher end as they are also marketing part 2 with this one so they desperately need people to see it
I didn’t say it was a flop, I just said it’s not doing as well globally. I think the first one did better in Japan than this one did and that actually had competition. Not everyone here is as excited at bendises success as you spiderverse guys are anon
No, but it doesn't need too
I like it, but no. Breaking a billion is more common today, but it's still not that common.
it'll break Cinemaphile
Too late.
Spider-Verse already broke Cinemaphile like 3 times over before the movie even came out. It's Black Panther all over again.
What does that even mean?
wokefest garbage ... who cares?
A lot people did. It's the 4th highest grossing film of the year.
shame
Jesus Fricking Christ....
>litmus test for racism
This person does know that even people within the same race can find other people of the same race to be ugly right?
why did you phase it that way
yes
It won't reach these numbers, Elemental is stealing away all their audience and even outselling it day after day
>Disney and Pixar’s “Elemental” nabbed second place with $18.5 million, sustaining only a 38% drop in its sophomore outing despite a disappointing domestic opening last weekend. That number brings the family film’s North American total to $65.5 million

Crazy that elemental, a new Pixar film, was struggling to overtake Spiderverse on its 4th week
Word of mouth is helping it gain new viewers

Only 700k after more than a month? By that time Mario had was already pass the billy.
It has some legs, since it's back up on no.1 again apparently, but I don't think so.
Might get real close though.
I never knew that seasons could actually affect a movie's profits.
People are more selective with their cinema time an money now, plus there's an obvious fatigue for sequels and capeshit, why risk your hard earned cash on a theater for a trash flick when the movie will be online in a month for cheap?
Only if it treats the other Spidermen with respect
They won't, don't worry. Young people don't have respect for anything they didn't create themselves. If they did, several characters wouldn't have gotten shafted to promote their OCs, Miles and Gwen. Hell, the idea of the Spider-Verse wouldn't exist in the first place.
