Will he ever finish the books?

And if yes, is there a hope for a new adaptation?

Of course he won't. Not even the next one, let alone the finale.

He probably had a rush of excitement after the show finale aired thinking "People will be rushing to these books now, so they can get MY ending". But after awhile, he probably thought "Nah, that's too much work."

No. It's over, the tv show, as bad as it is, is all you'll ever get.

George hasn't written a single script since season 4 of the show. He's only an executive producer he's not actually writing for it

When was the last book released? 10+ years ago?
What evidence do you have that he's any closer to a published product?
What other materials has he produced that *aren't* Winds of Winter?
He wrote himself into a corner and gave up. Maybe he tinkers around with a chapter here or there, posting excerpts on his blog, but no actual finished product should be expected.

The fat man already saw how the world perceived his ending and it was so bad, it memory holed the entire series out of public remembrance. I don't see any merch for it when I go to the mall. It is a dead IP. His motivation to continue is just as dead and even in the event he tried to finish it, it'll be shit. Nothing good comes from a demoralized man

Fatty can enjoy spending his millions on lobster tails until he's dead in a few years and the government reclaims it all

he had no direct input to the shows storyboard past season4. d&d just picked what parts they liked from his notes and ran with it.

the book ending will likely be the same. the problem with the show was never the individual plot elements, but the fact that they felt rushed and didnt mesh together well.
key elements were missing (dorne-targaryen alliance, victarion, young griff, taisha reveal, etc) that would give much better context to the things that the main characters would eventually do

It's writing is on par with season 2 of GOT, but it's battles are seasons 5-8 logic tier.

Even if by some dumb luck he lives long enough to get Winter out, he won't get the next book done. He may not even be able to wrap up the mess he made with two books. Regardless, it won't be finished

      >Even if by some dumb luck he lives long enough to get Winter out,

We don't need Dreams out, we just need Winds to show to the world that Game of Thrones by D&D was a poorly made adaption that completely went off the books and we need a reboot. Winds is already 3/4 done already, so the idea it won't be released is laughable.

the fatfrick admitted last year that he was struggling with continuing the story too
I think this is likely because of the stupid ass adaptation coming before he even finished the whole story, so now he wonders if the story he still needs to write will be acclaimed too or be inferior, as expectations are too damn high, causing him a hard writer's block
and yeah, expectations are the only thing he would care about now, since he's already rich, so he doesnt write for money

Being GERM must be suffering, trying to make sense of all of that horseshit he added in the last two books and resolve all of those characters plot points, many of whom he likely cannot remember now. He's fricked, no wonder he doesn't want to write it anymore. Not to mention everything it is leading up to, already got universally rejected. He can try to write it up in a prettier bow, but it is a waste of time. Good odds are that he's trying to rewrite much of it and now royally fricked the whole thing up

if the story was going to lead to the disappointment that the show had, then yeah, even more reason to be blocked trying to come up with something better

Bran does not become king, he becomes king of the magic people or the north
the Seven Kingdoms becomes the Holy Roman Empire, a confederal feudal elective monarchy
Bronn does not become leader of the Reach and the Tyrells do not magically all die, that is fan fiction tier shit
Dany does not burn down King's Landing, she may accidently set off the wildfire stashes while fighting fake aegon
Cersei will be strangled by Jaime
Stannis will defeat the Boltons, his entire storyline was taken and giving to Kit Harrington
The final battle with the Others happens after King's landing and Euron Greyjoy is their leader
Ellaria Sand does not become leader of Drone
Shireen burns, but not by Stannis
    And tons of other shit.

he's forgotten it by now. Most of book 4 and 5 are the ramblings of a drunk who doesn't really know where the story is going, tbh. That would be a big plus if he could just FINISH IT btw

He probably won't finish the books, but I definitely think they'll adapt GoT again given how much people fricking hated the ending (and how popular the series was).
