I hate it. Herzog is a fricking hack who phoned it in completely with this antarctic bullshit. The praise is totally undeserved. He doesn't know how to film snow. He doesn't have the first idea about lighting in an arctic environment, you can see how inadequate the lighting is during the scene where they are training with blindfolds on. The sound quality is disgusting and the choice to shoot in the place where the base camp was was lazy and incongruent. The famous penguin scene is almost certainly bullshit, look at the editing and you can see that's not what happened at all.
When he's questioning the scientists he comes across as a complete moron and they look embarassed to be on camera at all, I'm not sure why he thinks he's qualified to go there but guess what buddy, he isn't.
