I hope so. He'd bully me if I met him, but overall I think his heart is in the right place. It's too bad he'll burnout young from alcohol. I think he'd be capable of some chappelle-tier stuff if he didn't. Would also help if he admitted to being a trump voter instead of denying it like he did in his special. Not like waving a Trump banner, just 'yeah I voted for him. Guy is funny & against the Dems it's all a joke anyway.

      How so?

hes literally just a safe Sam Hyde

I think he's smarter and more well-read than hyde.

The similarities are pretty interesting, they are both physically large white manchildren who got "cancelled" and have podcast cohosts who most would agree are actually much funnier than they are.

Matt and nick: married, children, worked lots of jobs, smoke weed, good story tellers, can riff constantly, funny and accurate racist takes because they've actually spent time around minorities

Sam and Shane: no wife, no gf, fat but think they are big tough macho men, play lots of video games, never really had any real jobs, moronic internet comment tier racism

McCusker/Rochefort/mullen podcast would be the GOAT.

      >fat but think they are big tough macho men
I don't think this applies to Shane at all. He regularly admits how weak he is. It's only if there's a social 'conversation competition' that he acts big. And he knows it's an act just to 'win' & acknowledges it openly later.

      who is this downy?

I bet Shane made this very thread, and this post.

I disagree. Sam got a perfect SAT score and Shane got an average score. Sam also thinks about things in a much more abstract way which is generally a sign of intelligence. Also, sams dad is lawyer and a doctor and intelligence is genetic

So did sam, and neither did it for very long. It's a shitty job for desperate but charismatic people, generally uneducated and out of options lol. Car dealerships will hire anyone with a pulse because it's commission and they don't have to pay you if you fail at the job. They also both sold during a time when the money was shit. I know this because I too sold cars for a few years, I was good at it and got lucky with covid market so I ended up making a ton of money but I'll still be the first to admit it's a scumbag job and if you find yourself in it you've fricked something up in your life.

you guys are so effeminate and deranged.
Why would I care if Shane has had a job? He's a comedian. I get attacking Sam cause he's decided to become an internet father and gives people advice when he had so much handed to him, but Shane is just funny. So is Matt, so is Nick, and they all have their strengths and weaknesses (Matt's standup special was not as good as either of Shane's), but I really don't care as long as they're funny.
I don't understand this need to find semi-popular comedians and gossip about them to try and prove that they're bad and that people shouldn't listen to them. It's feverish on this site and part of me thinks its the same few homosexuals with this obsessive compulsion. I don't care if Shane's a piece of shit. I don't think he is, but if he was it would change nothing and I'm not even trying to defend him. I just can't stand this resentful pussy behavior

          Anonymous

          >try and prove that they're bad and that people shouldn't listen to them.
Nobody itt is saying that. It's honestly kinda weird that that's your interpretation. Why do you feel the need to defend them? You obviously know everything I said is true since anyone who actually watches their standup specials is much more invested in these guys than my casual podcast listening ass.

These people are jesters to be laughed at, they are COMEDIANS. They exist for no other reason than entertaining us. Why get butthurt over people enjoying the time honored tradition of laughing at the lives of jesters? The difference between you and I is that you think that shit like "lol bro what if you went to prison and your cell mate was a huge black guy?" is funny in and of itself, while I think it's absolutely hilarious that a fat 30 something downsyndrome looking guy is saying it to try to be funny after he spent 10 minutes recounting how he woke up at noon and played call of duty for 6 hours before the podcast.

            Anonymous

I just don't understand why you feel the need to bring things down to this level of weird personal gossip, to the point of just making things up. It is literally about "this guy is bad", your whole post is making a value judgment and you playing it off as "but I'm actually laughing at him" is the same as adding a cringe defensive lmao to the end of your post but without the brevity. I don't care if you think he's a fat unfunny moron, but you're positing him as being a mendacious hack when not only is there nothing evidencing this but also no reason to do so. I haven't defended him in any real way, it's not your negative opinion that bothers me, it's the pathetic and womanly neurosis that possesses you to turn every thread into a gossip sesh. I get it with MDE because of the reasons above and also the drama surrounding them, I get it with cumtown cause of the drama surrounding them, but there is literally nothing here to read into or discuss. It's just a guy making jokes and for some reason this inspires you to become a gossipy little b***h. It's pathetic and reflective of your lowly slavish spirit.

I'm not playing it off though, he's funny BECAUSE he's an immature loser. Same thing with Nick Mullen, Sam Hyde, Anthony Cumia, etc.

How do you not understand that comedians are funny because of their faults, not in spite of them? Even they themselves know this, which is why they freely admit to all of it in their free content that they post on the internet...

he put out an entire stand up special for free on youtube because he was being "cancelled" just look up shane gillis on youtube.
the special blew up and utterly destroyed the entire catalogue of shitty nepotism comedians on netflix.
after the special shane just got more love than ever.
He released his second special on netflix a few weeks ago and unsurprisingly it was the most viewed content on the platform and btfo out of the untalented competition.

            Anonymous

I don't have any particular soft spot for stand up comedy but for comedians it's the main way they grind for cash and the only real practical way for comedy as an art form to be done. You don't do comedy saying le funny remarks on a podcast. Nor is it done through sketch comedy or TV writing which is worse than anything. Stand up comedians that react to events or ideas they hear about recently are channeling comedy in the way it was done by jesters and fools a thousand years ago. Bad comedians will always exist the way low quality anything will fill a need in a market.

The comedy podcast patreon grift is far more lucrative than the standup grift. No middlemen club promoters taking half your till, no traveling. Just get a decent mic, they cost like $500. Shane Gillis is literally only known because of his podcast.

Maybe if you're Joe fricking Rogan moron. There are only so many podcasts people can watch and give money to. Ari Shaffirs skeptic tank would still be around if it made that israelite any money but it didn't. That's why he spends all his time on tour.
                >Shane Gillis is literally only known because of his podcast
Oh wow I wonder why, it couldn't be because he was a standup comedian that got hired then fired by SNL and subsequently interviewed for cancel culture coverage shit. Nothing about his interviews were comedic but were about cancel culture headlines that put him in the spotlight and boosted his existing standup career. If you want an example in which muh podcasts create "comedians" you look at cringelords like Brendan Schaub, first a UFC Black person on Joe Rogan then turned failed comedian because he thought being on a podcast made you funny.

I'm sure if he started off with his podcast first and not with a YouTube channel that he'd be just as successful. every comedian thats considered funny now is funnier on podcasts than doing standup

        Anonymous

no you just think podcasts are funnier coz you watch standup at home stone cold sober.
standup needs a willing crowd to provide energy to the comedian and also to each other.
if you watch it alone you're missing around 90 percent of the experience.

Podcasts are a chill environment and they can also edit them so they're less afraid of going full moron. Its basically long form comedic pitching and tossing hypotheticals and concepts back and forth and you can make it as topical and about whats trending or as hyper specific as you want. Its honestly easy to be funny on a podcast.

His new special wasn't much of an improvement so I hope he branches out to do more acting/writing. The podcast/standup circuit that most comedians are on seem to make them stagnate. Supposedly they're making Tires again so that's cool

I thought his special was very mid. Seems like he got the most laughs when he dropped words like “moron” and “gay”. Nothing wrong with those words being used, but the set ups and payoffs were unoriginal, so you had dudebros overreacting.

He said some things on the last protect your parks JRE that you could tell Rogan wasn't exactly happy with.
    >I didn't want to give my Mom cpr because it was gross
    >I got on stage in Dublin and say "up the RA"
That last one got a big reaction from Rogan
    >You're doing political stuff in another country?!
If he falls out of favor with Joe it's finished. That would be hilarious if that happened after he moved to Austin...but it probably won't.

Rumour was that Tim fell out with Rogan (because Rogies wouldn't come on his show or something I think), hence why he was on the show regularly at one point and then vanished

He moved to Austin to be part of the Rogies Cinematic Universe but now is back in LA because he said Austin sucked

      Shane

      >moved to Austin
I don't understand this. Dude gets up top dominating netflix and decides to go into the JREsphere? That's like if after the US revolution the US went to france & asked if we could be their colony. Idk maybe he just hates NYC that much?

        Anonymous

there are rumors that he is bank rolling another comedy club with rogan's help.
rogan wants to make austin a new capital for comedy - shane would be perfect as a face of a secondary club that is outside rogan's sphere but is still in his network.
will reduce pressure on rogan to help maintain his friend's careers (like shaub) - he can send them to the second club

Him entering Rogies sphere of influence goes back to him getting cancelled though. He had a sort of awkward JRE appearance right after it, then for some reason Rogan kept bringing him on with Ari Shaffir and Mark Normand to get drunk. Then Matt came on with him (basically ended up being MSSP with special guest Rogies)

Rogan seems to be gathering up all the cancelled comedians and giving them major exposure so I can understand Shane jumping on that

Weirdly he also seems to know the navy seals for some reason. When he met Trump at UFC (invited by Rogan I guess) he was sitting next to David Goggins

Shane's Netflix special was breddy good

MSSP got a bit boring over time. The old testament is still the best bit of it when they were poor and didn't know each other's stories yet. They both hovered over the edge of being complete burnout failures and their stories about that are usually the funniest parts

In like 2016 they were also /misc/-adjacent by the standard of the time, not quite alt-right but definitely flirting with it (particularly on the nightcasts where they would get trashed and be a bit less careful with their opinions). It's hilarious that probably the most innocuous comment they ever made about Asians was what got them cancelled
