Supposedly it's even worse since they fear releasing it to the public eye

Better because Emily Rudd is a cute and Daniella Pineda is not.

If anything she should be Pudding, looks close enough with the proper hairstyle and has proved to excel at playing sexy psycho women
This series will not last long enough for the character to show up of course

The test audience rumor has already been debunked. The show is probably still shit. I read the pilot and it’s incredibly faithful to the manga. Which means it’s gonna be laughably bad to see it play out in live-action

This, OP is kino but in manga form only. That shit is goofy and embarrassing in live action format. You could maybe do a campy and tongue in cheek kind of take on it like say, Dick Tracy or other shit like, but OP takes itself seriously despite the goofball aesthetic, it would not fucking work on live action.

It's literally the same production studio.
With 2 lead creators being marvel tv slop director and the guy who hasn't made anything decent since second season of Lost. It's going to be a goddamm miracle if it's even watchable. And they know it, since they are so fucking afraid of showing even a scrap of footage.

What are the odds that the showrunners even watched the anime? 1000 episodes lmao did they even try?

      >What are the odds that the showrunners even watched the anime?

The writer was on a 2+ hour call with King of Lightning, Tekking101, and other One piece autists discussing the series in depth.

      He's not a fraud.

To be fair there's plenty of OP fans that just skip over tons of shit and the guy is very obviously a diversity hire. A black showrunner and an asian showrunner because "it's anime we gotta get an asian american here" like come on. I actually do believe the black dude actually has read it though, black dudes love OP. But still, no fucking way any of the producers and executives understand even a bit of it.

I have a hard time believing it could possibly be worse than Cowboy Bebop, that show was impressive in how terrible every choice they made was.

One Piece has a very distinct cartoony artsyle that some might say is an acquired taste. Trying to adapt it in live action will be disastrous. EVERY frame will be hideous, so yes, this will be much worse than Bebop.

It’s gonna be FAAAAAAAAAR worse. Cowboy Bebop at least had the benefit of good veteran actors like John Cho and the moron who played Jet. One Piece’s cast is all bad zoomed actors. So imagine the entire cast being on par with Ed

No one sane watches One Piece. Read the manga. Actually don’t. It’s too long and not nearly good enough to warrant the time investment

I've read both One Piece and Naruto up to several hundred chapters each and I honestly think Naruto is much better as a manga. It becomes shit after the Pain Arc and even before that right after the exams' first tournament it starts dragging more and more but still, that exam arc was kino and had lots of great character arcs, payoff, character growth, etc. Whereas OP was hard to read, as in literally hard to read because the formatting was shit. Like I get that's the aesthetic, but sometimes it's hard to tell who's saying what and what is actually happening because the drawings get so stylized. I don't get how Naruto gets so much hate in comparison where OP gets near universal praise despite it being such a messy manga.

I'm still mad they choose to prioritize this shit to the point it pushed the ATLA adaptation to either end of year or 2024. There's no fucking universe where OP makes for a better adaptation that ATLA. Netflix are a bunch of clout chasing retards.

If Netflix One Piece fails, then Samurai Champloo definitely won’t enjoy a Western adaptation. Netflix’s One Piece may decide the near future of anime adaptations. That proposed Death Note miniseries will likely also get axed if this fails
