This was very bad. His style of humor doesn't work in a longer form video comedy. If anything this shows that LS shart's pilot will be a fat pile of shit.
Short answer: No, the audience hook is vague/ non-existent
Longer answer: For a successful pilot, there needs to be a particular hook that leaves the audience asking questions or something that makes them wonder what will happen next. If this isn't done, then the fallback is just to have a cast of characters that are so amusing that the audience wants to just watch more. So far, the premise appears to be, 'silent main character does odd jobs at a mall arcade'. 'Regular show' had a similar premise, but the actual hook was, 'how wacky will the world get when the characters try to perform a basic job?' If i had to guess, the hook for gamecade is supposed to be "how much havoc will the main character create because he takes his job way too seriously?" The problem is that, there wasn't much havoc or mayhem, he was just a bit annoying to the customers and coworkers.
I find it very odd that he chose to have a *mostly silent* main character. It's a rare sight simply because it's hard to make those character archetypes work as the lead.
I think he is struggling with gamecade because the type of comedy he is used to doing is short videos with abrupt endings. That is his bread and butter and now he can't use it as a punchline. Since this new format is forcing him out of his comfort zone, he is having difficulty and it shows. I hope the best for him~ as making a show takes guts and effort

No, I'm sure he's that much of a man child that his parents kept him in a healthy diet when he was living in Ireland. Now he can eat what he wants when he wants without mommy or daddy telling him to watch his weight.
So what you're saying is that I can't make a cartoon or a story that's set before I was born? What about westerns, hmm?
No, when your selling point is "to bring nostalgia to those who were kids in the 2000s". Although, this homosexual is only making a cartoon so he can brag that he made one. Admitted it himself. Same with him wanting to make a mascot horror game.

>A show set in the early 2000s >Written by some zoomer who has no memories of the early 2000s because he was hardly even alive around that time, even worse, born after 9/11
That guy's a moron, there's really nothing wrong to make a cartoon set in a certain time period whether is was before you were born, a time when you were an infant, or just a little kid with very little understanding of the world. If you want to do it for the frick of it because you like that time period, do it. What matters is that you make your cartoon accurate to that specific time period.
Say you were born in 2005 and you made a cartoon set in the year 1997, and you have a character interacting with an iPhone or some character driving around in a Tesla car. That right there will just ruin the feel of your cartoon being set in the late '90s because the common touchscreen smartphone like the iPhone didn't even exist around that time, neither did Tesla cars. Out of place stuff like that will just ruin that feel UNLESS you make it like some sort of Back To The Future kind of thing where a character from 2024 time travels back to 1997.
Just do extensive research on that time period, how things were around that time, it's culture, it's events, the common tech people used around that time, how society dressed. You know that kind of shit.
That’s an insult to streetshitters everywhere. At least they have imagination. Why is every character design of his so boring? Was he THAT inspired by adult animation?
Very true. Whole genre of internet cartoons that feel like a robot or alien trying to approximate real experiences. Get generic "two friends who are friends and hang out" and "two friends who are friends and work at a store/fast food restaurant" type stuff that is really off-putting.
I don't think it looks that bayad. But writing a story about loif experiences when ya haven't even oined those experiences is wead. There ain't much soivice to it.
Even what we've seen sucks >Highschool cynical awkward squidward character who struggles to adult paired with younger more eyes wide open spongebob character
Seems more like a projection of his awkward high school life than a show with any sort of gripping setting or narrative
Tbf, shows need some kind of projection to reality. I knew it was going to be bland from the first gag I saw
>squidward character closes locker >spongebob character is hanging from it >instead of giving the former the same deadpan reaction to show that this particular i sanity is commonplace or not enough to perturb him >he reacts immediately showing this is the most exciting the show gets
Do you know what I’m talking about. That gag was a bar for the show and it was set pathetically low
I get what you are saying yeah, it reeks of misunderstanding all the shit he's covered.
About the reality bit, the main reason i brought it up is because of the fact it is animated. Why does this need to be animated if it's just mundane highschool nonsense with nothing else justifying the animation?
This is animation, you can do anything and you choose to just make people but animals.
Right. They’re animals because he wants the cartoon/cute aesthetic without working for it. It’s not a problem if you want furry characters, but it is a problem if they don’t do anything.
What I want to know is who else he managed to rope in with such a lousy plot and possibly no pay.
I'm not watching any drama youtuber with an axe to grind any longer than 1 second
So I'll just believe anyone on here, what did LSMark actually do? And did his wife actually cheat on him with 2 other Irish cartoon youtubers?
Okay thanks, because I only watched his wife's video and all I could comprehend was
"Yeah I cheated on my husband, so what?"
And Ls Mark only response was, "Yeah my wife cheated on me, so what?"
Wow, forget this cartoon, I’ll never trust LS Mark to make anything of quality ever again. Willing cucks are spiritually dead and you can see it in his character designs
I don't dislike Mark, his videos are usually fairly good and I appreciated him telling obsessive fanbases who can't see any fault in their series to frick off. The sonic video where he mocked people saying "I don't need to see Sonic 2 I know it's great" or something. It did suck when he was reading stuff comments like "this guy doesn't get out much huh" and retorting with "here's a picture of me dancing with my girlfriend that very night" or whatever. That was probably the closest I came to finding him annoying.
I feel bad that he found someone he loves but she's just a b***h that's playing him and he already put too much money into being with her, but when I don't see these threads I don't usually think about it much. Anyway his pilot looks unfortunately derivative and lackluster. Like his weird obsessing with caring about but also hating Butch Hartman stuff (mainly connected to FOP) bleeding into his own creation's design style is kinda annoying. Like some art of his pilot's characters have them standing with their hands like FOP characters facing backwards and it's weird because other things I've seen of the pilot feel like it's an outlier design philosphy.
I probably won't care enough to watch it but I am curious to hear more about it.
I feel like his biggest problem is that he binges it all in one sitting, so halfway through his video he'll just go >Yeah guys I got sick and fell asleep through this one, my notes just say *incomprehensible gibberish*...so yeah >Megaman vs X plays to Segway to the next episode where he says the same thing
I love Regular Show so it sucked he tried to binge it hard and it was like that. I was glad that finally someone with any people who notice them online spoke positively of it where its current cultural impact is literally just simp memeing and hating Mordecai, which while I agree Mordecai's love life was on the weaker end of the show it makes the whole series just sound like it sucks ass. At least someone got the message out there the show is good other than a lot of the last season.
What’s wild is that simping was one of the only ways to get the slacker archetype to do anything in these kinds of shows and now everyone is turning away from it for just reasons. Real romance is dead and modern day killed it. I feel like his this with Margaret is just something to be expected.
Still, at least it’s something. What do these two even want?
Also, it’s a bit gross how many boyfriends Margaret has been through. There’s no way anyone would’ve been happy ending up with someone like her in reality.
I genuienly found Mordecai and Margaret episodes endearing before the love triangle stuff painted the perception of one or both of them being homewreckers and making everyone especially hostile towards Margaret which will likely never go away. Even Mark doesn't like her in his series ranking video. She herself might not have offered much which is key to making a truly investing crush setup but I liked the vibe of some slacker dude in his 20's working at a park crushing on the girl at his local coffee shop who seemed to keep finding a bunch of guys who weren't good for her. It fit the 80's feeling of the show in some way to me. Of course this is considering she never really went too far with any of them, maybe a couple dates before realizing they sucked and starting over with another later. Working at the coffee shop she probably got hit on a lot by random dudes which gave her a lot of chances to try some. That's just guessing since it never really got elaborated on.
I do like how towards the end before CJ really got involved, when Margaret revealed she got into a college, she said something like "for the first time I feel like I could be in a relationship that could actually go somewhere" which gave that side of her that by that point had already sort of disappeared some depth. That she obviously wasn't just sleeping around and a prostitute but was trying and failing to find a cool dude (she likes Fist Pump like Mordecai, she went to the same concert with someone who liked it and shared that interest with her but in the few seconds we get we see her react to that guy being a jerk.) Before that in Meteor Moves she talked to him about his and her future, that she wanted to get into school and Mordecai talking about art school or something, I liked those little moments they got to have.
Mark's video made me want to do my own ranking/review video as a big fan of RS but I hate the sound of my own voice so probably not.
I never thought about Margaret that way, but the 80’s vibe was something I wanted to articulate. It’s pathetic, but I think fans hated it because it hit a little too close to home. Romance is dying quick for a lot of men. That said, I’m shocked Eileen and Rigby stayed together, but that makes sense for 80’s vibes too. Not liking the nerdy girl until you get to know her then she gets hot >I think Eileen is hot without her glasses!

Actually I'm pretty sure most of Eileen and Rigby getting together was based on her VA also being a writer for the show and self-inserting a bit, on top of early on that they recieved complaints about how unlikeable Rigby was so they were working on taming him down a little.

I hear they reversed his development a little in season 8, but from what I can see he finished strong. Even if a little forced, that subplot was cute between them
Wouldn't it be more funny if it was >Tom & Jerry but Tom gets horrifically dislocated and ends up in the hospital and Jerry has to pay the medical bills
or something? Like there's no reason for this to be animated or no reason for them to be animals.
Also, it’s a bit gross how many boyfriends Margaret has been through. There’s no way anyone would’ve been happy ending up with someone like her in reality.

[...]
But I do know that nearly everyone working on the animation side of it are industry professionals

You can thank Veronica and whatever bridge she hasn't burned. Makes me wonder if Mark's also using her like she is with him by having some form of a gateway into the industry. I heard someone here once say that probably Mark hasn't released anything and has been secretive about it because we shat on it when it first leaked and has rewritten the script a lot. Which makes sense.
I didn’t think so. Watching his downfall is infinitely more interesting
one of the biggest things that rubs me the wrong way about this whole thing is that there's a massive disconnect between the art and the story. as far as i can tell, it's supposed to be a "slice of life"-ish high school comedy, but the designs feel more like something you'd find in a goofy episodic show. like, the mouse is wearing a bowler hat and a tie for some reason?

This. It's like he's using a very basic take on what a cartoon is (funny animals wearing goofy clothes, the cheerful/serious character duo) without understanding in what type of stories and tone that would work.
Most of the characters in this show aren't even characters he made. The mouse I think and the cat are rhe only characters he's created. Everything else is made from his wife or some random twitter artist that he asks for designs for only to botch them in his art style. He's an idiot and dull.
>Everything else is made from his wife or some random twitter artist that he asks for designs for only to botch them in his art style
Kek, what a loser. Is there any pic comparing the before and after of the designs?
This. It's like he's using a very basic take on what a cartoon is (funny animals wearing goofy clothes, the cheerful/serious character duo) without understanding in what type of stories and tone that would work.
I feel LS Mark is "too slow" for animation, not saying you gotta be ADD, but LS Mark's humor and writing style is too slow for animation, Gassy's Gas n Stuff is like the max speed before it goes to jingling keys territory
Of course not. This is made by an animation autistic fanboy who thinks he knows a lot about animation simply because he sits around watching cartoons all of the time and making hours upon hours of recordings recounting what happened in kids cartoons. That means absolutely nothing.
Mark's designs are generic and safe, like some kind of AI automated prompt of "Butchman Hartman style mouse". Ironically, the guy who wastes his time heavily criticizing children's cartoons, has no idea what makes a good kids cartoon. He seems to have boiled it down into the most generic dynamic: overly enthusiastic character and unenthusiastic curmudgeon.
It's a great lie to post finalized teaser artwork/trailers for something that doesn't actually exist and then promise to deliver on something that they have no idea what they're making. The reality is that it's just hype build-up to feed his ego by acting like he's doing something big but has nothing to show for it. It will either never come out and he'll have some excuse for it OR it will come out and be exactly what you expect of it. Short, unoriginal, safe, and not live up to any of the hype build up.
Mark should be less of a manchild and instead study more of the stuff he enjoys and try to reverse engineer it to learn the basic fundamentals of animation.
I don't like mouse characters, just a personal thing. If he puts in the work I'm sure it'll be fine though
Will it BE in the first place?
No
Every time “cartoon reviewer” youtuber tries to make a cartoon series it ends up being shit
This should be a known fact by now. It'll suck so bad he'll stop and continue reviewing cartoons but even more insufferably cynical with the "lol zoom" humor cranked up to eleven in an attempt to hide his sour grapes.

Well screw you, I liked it. but in all seriousness, do you think he has a future with this show? Will it get better?

Mark has a whole podcast with his b***h wife and they're doing let's plays now kek what the frick
Which makes sense.
who's he gonna use the Spirit Bomb against?
>Famous voice actor
Doubt this counts but Michael Kovach plays the gray cat character
Are you fricking kidding me? Must’ve been before he was worth anything
Some voice actors will play in literally anything
How long ago was this post?
About last summer
Even the scathing critiques are getting old, shit
>Will it be good?
You know it won't
Will it be good to poke fun at?
Probably not even that
I didn’t think so. Watching his downfall is infinitely more interesting
It’s so boring, every aspect.
So why mice?
frick daftpina
oh i mean "dovendraw"
frick you
Why did daft change his name again?
Probably to try and run as far away from apologising as possible
no
one of the biggest things that rubs me the wrong way about this whole thing is that there's a massive disconnect between the art and the story. as far as i can tell, it's supposed to be a "slice of life"-ish high school comedy, but the designs feel more like something you'd find in a goofy episodic show. like, the mouse is wearing a bowler hat and a tie for some reason?
Sketch is the initial design by a hired artist
Final is marks revision
>sketch
Would both
>final
No
You just described Bojack Horseman kek
I dunno. Bojack's designs are fairly "realistic" compared with the style of the cuck from OP's pic
>blue sweater
>grey business suit jacket
>red converse shoes
>jeans
Pretty goofy. What normal person would wear this atrocious combination of clothing?
Someone with a horse head
NORMAL WORDS BUT A HORSE GUY!
I think it will eventually come out
Nah
The art style is just genuinely unappealing, no way around it
SOVL
Looks good
I would mating press them both
