Yeah, it's weird. I may sound like a schizo for this, but I honestly think the backlash is because Jane didn't upstage Thor and didn't become the focus of the movie, and that's got the alphabet people angry since the future was supposed to be female. Honestly, Jane was a million times better than her comic book version.

Jane did nothing but get her ass kicked by Gorr multiple times and was literally a damsel in distress in one scene where Thor needed to save her. most of the negative reviews are unironically angry she wasn't portrayed on Thor's level of power and that he was the main character in his own movie.

I had to scratch my memory for that scene, it didn't even register like that to me, I was thinking about everyone being in danger at the moment.
It was more of a Gorr was forcing Thor to call Stormbreaker else he was going to kill Jane in front of him.
Did they miss out on the part that she was constantly straining herself and dying as she was channeling Thor's power? OR the fact that she has the "power of Thor", which stems from Thor himself rather than the hammer?

According to the movie Thor's been able to enchant the weapons even in between The Dark World and Ragnarok (the entire reason Mjolnir gives Jane the strength is that Thor enchanted it to protect Jane)

The worst part about this film is that it has the potential to be great. All the right story ingredients were there, some of the best visual set pieces of Marvel ready to go (the shadow planet especially), and divorced from the interconnected MCU so you could just have a solid standalone movie. Yet what remained was a soulless husk where every scene is just an improv class and the entire film had some of the worst pacing and transitions I've ever seen in a Marvel movie. Lets have Thor have an epic music montage and then immediately move to Jane having cancer. The tonal dissonance is absurd. Who edited this film?
And who are the test audiences for this movie? Taika said Gorr was the highest scoring villain in an MCU film and his entire personality was "muh gods".
The writing, editing and pacing in this movie suck.
