Depends. I did marketing for a local hockey team and we'd do these kinds of deals sometimes with bars and restaurants. Usually the restaurant would buy a block of tickets for a discounted price and we'd count it as ticket sales.

She's been bulletproof after a constant stream of massive failures. What makes you think this will be it?

      Anonymous

Because back then she could announce a project and get it into production and she can't be fired because she had a project in production, and Disney wasn't in the dire spot it's in yet. Plus think about the projects Lucasfilm has done from Episode 9 till now

Only Episode 9 and Indy 5 were released in theaters
Episode 9, they claimed had a budget $275 million with a worldwide box office of $1 billion, so for a while it was seen as "profitable" until this year when people found out it was actually anywhere between $400-500 million, which would mean that it did slightly better than break even, and people would debate whether that's a success or not
The SW stuff on Disney+, people outside of Disney don't seem to know if it's profitable or not
Indy 5 on the other hand if it's trajectory is as bad or worse than people predicted, would be said to be an expensive bomb with no debate, and the failure would be pinned on Kennedy.

Either whatever blackmail people claim she has is not strong enough to work against Iger when he's dealing with pissed off investors and a large bill to Comcast, or she never had it because the time to unleash it would've been earlier in the year.

I think Iger is trying to destroy her reputation to get her to resign

She had two movies that almost re-shot the entire movie resulting in budgets of $300 million each and they're looking into some shitty series for Disney Plus?

There could be several reasons why this would be happening, could be some, could be all

      >Indy 5
It had a budget of $300 million and is looking to be a box office disaster
      >Rise of Skywalker's actual reported budget
This year, https://www.forbes.com/sites/carolinereid/2023/02/26/star-wars-the-force-awakens-becomes-the-most-expensive-movie-in-history/ says that the budget was actually $503.6 million and not the $275 million people believed
      >Other people are starting to notice financial issues with Lucasfilm
Maureen Ryan's Burn It Down, a book taking shots at Hollywood people for their perceived progressivism had this:
      >Before Emma took the job, a friend in Hollywood told her that Lucasfilm didn't particularly care about going over budget. Emma was gobsmacked by her friend's observation, given the penny-pinching ways of her previous employers. "But I saw it up close -- that it doesn't matter how many mistakes are made or how incompetent some people are," she said. "Our budget doubled, and I'm sure it went up after I left. I've never seen anything like it."
      >Acolyte lawsuit

The objective is to remain in bed with the Democrats until general economic collapse makes ESG social credit mandated by law, at which point Disney will get generous kickbacks. Keeping stagnant copyrights active and generating social media traffic for ad farming doesn't hurt either.

Kennedy is doing exactly what she's supposed to be doing, you're just not looking at what's going on with a wide enough lens.

ESG and generating outrage to manufacture ad traffic are literally already things that exist. The only 'hypotheticals' at play is if someone were to hypothetically jump into a time machine and assassinate Steve Jobs before he invents the iPhone

Several "diversity executives" are being fired from various studios and even the academy because ofc their utter incompetence harmed Hollywood's profits and international relevance.
Now would be an appropriate time for Kennedy to "retire" or "pursue other projects" because she is perhaps the main individual culprit for Hollywood's current crisis

Both films have gone through extensive reshoots. The declared budgets for both of them very likely to be inaccurate. But I am going to go with The Flash for having the larger of the two. That film had been in development for like 8 years and went through like 5 directors.

No way, if she can tank Star Wars and survive, nothing is off the table.

I don't think you understand just how big a deal the most consistent merch seller of all time now being associated with 2 unheard of drops, one of which broke the world record for sequel drops with 732 million down from the previous and the next one cementing it as the only franchise in history to go down one BILLION DOLLARS from start to end, truly is. Imagine if Pokemon's next game sold half as many copies, and nobody bought the plushies. That's the absolute closest we will ever get the the legendary frickup that was Disney Star Wars, a truly once in a lifetime failure we just plain don't have another property so long lived and successful to compare it to. Imagining that Star Wars toys would sell for 3 cents, THREE, CENTS, would be unthinkable in 2010. 7 years after the last movie and it would still be absurd to have merch for STAR WARS of all things to be a failure.

Indiana Jones failing? That's just another failed revival like Terminator Dark Fate. A huge name once upon a time that now got fricked over because a producer wanted their pet character to be pushed to the front. If Star Wars couldn't get her fired then there's truly nothing that could, her dirt on the other execs is simply too strong.

      Anonymous

      >No way, if she can tank Star Wars and survive,

WE know she (and others) did tank it. But shills constantly come to the Trilogy's defense by claiming "each film made more than a billion dollars". It's a technicality that probably allowed her to stay on. Similar to how people at Lucasfilm (and likely other studios) trot out the "kids don't play with toys anymore" excuse for why merchandise doesn't sell. While partially true, it doesn't explain why Marvel toys were still selling (prior to Phase 4) vastly better compared to Star Wars toys

But Indy 5 is looking to be more objectively a bomb if it's doing worse than Flash.

  35. 12 months ago

    She ain't getting fired dumbass.
If Disney fired her, it would signal that the chuds were right all along.
The political ramifications of this would be greater than just accepting half a billion dollars in cost.

They removed Lucasfilms Willow, a BRAND NEW series from Disney plus and memory holed it like it never existed. You put Indy 5 that will literally lose Disney hundrrds of millions of dollars on top of that and she still keeps her job
its way too big of a smoking gun that she has insane amounts of dirt on people up top and has threatened to use it if she gets fired. It might be sex related but more likeley money laundering and fraud to hide all of the massive losses the company has.
