It was comfy, it wasn't jammed full of overt pandering horseshit, it was a taste of what might have been in store for Disney's future if they hadn't been in the process of at the time and ultimately acquiring Star Wars. People like it for the same reason people like Oblivion and a handful of other middling to good scifi movies from the past decade. It wasn't up its own ass and it didn't seem to have any blatant social agenda baked in. It was just a movie and we don't get so many of those out of large studios anymore.
As if stories about peoples being forced out of their homeland by some sort of cataclysm and becoming nomadic refugees isn't a story as old as time with examples going back as far as we have history with the Sumerians and the like anyway. Everything is a culture war when culture war is all you know I guess.
Their importance was so off. Like Flynn says they're the key to stopping disease and maybe aging because they're...spontaneously generated computer people? Then all six gorillion-1 are killed and it's never brought up again.

Tron is certainly fertile ground for a lot of narratives. What is possibly a problem is that it really isn't Tron's brand. At its core, Tron is world-building eye candy. You are never supposed to get to know the inner depth of anything. Just the bright lights as you pass by.

You must unlearn what you learned. Jokes aside I think Tron can be what ever filmmakers want it to be. All respect the the original movie, I don't think it's really that great, so Legacy kind of had a clean slate.
Recent blockbusters that are better than Legacy. TENET and Top Gun Maverick. That's sticking to blockbusters from the last two years alone. Legacy was boring as frick if you weren't a boomer with Nostalgia.
Tenet was too convoluted for it's own good IMO and the new Top Gun was directed by the Legacy director. Make of that what you will...

Based. Prometheus is great.
And yeah, Disney these days probably wouldn't make a movie like Legacy. Sad! as Trump would say.
It's one of the very few examples of a sequel to a cult classic and beloved franchise which is both good and true to the original. It's basically the best possible product that could have come out of that idea, and so far it's still one of the only gems out of the rough that is Disney regurgitating old IPs
thats just american movies in general. im not excusing it, but like every single movie made with the goal of attracting americans to seats has that capeshit third act. all of them. and if its an animated american movie, the protagonists will find a reason to hate each other in the second act and make up in the third act.
Recent blockbusters that are better than Legacy. TENET and Top Gun Maverick. That's sticking to blockbusters from the last two years alone. Legacy was boring as frick if you weren't a boomer with Nostalgia.
The movie is far from basic.
Take for example one of the first scenes, where Kevin left Sam, camera shows kid trying to cope with the father's loss by trying to "catch up" with him or run away from his pain.
It flows into his mom's scream "Sam, come back!" as movie shows us grown up Sam still trying to "find" his father or running from the past, riding the motorcycle in the night city with a magnificent Daft Punk music that WORKS on that whole "Son running away from the past/searching his father" theme.
Its soothing and catches you in a spiritual way very few movies do (Star Wars and LotR are one of them).
And there are a lot of such scenes in the movie. Its very much Father-Son, God-Human themed movie that doesnt try to punch you into the face with obvious metaphors and ideas like most pretentious movies do, but instead let you FEEL it through the art of the visual, musical and acting delight.
Tron Legacy is a masterpiece, and far from "long clip for Daft Punk" meme. Its an actual great movie.
It's a weak story with nice visuals and music. It truly is a 2hr music video. You're a hipster that's pretending there's more to it than there really is. The lead up to release of the movie was a real event in that everyone likes the aesthetic so there was a lot of cosplay and artwork being done leading up to it. The week after it opened no one was talking about it anymore. Everyone remembered Olivia Wilde in latex, the bad CGI villain and Daft Punk. An no one even cared about the sequel bait.
>catches you in a spiritual way very few movies do (Star Wars and LotR are one of them
Those are both terrible, especially star wars.
Grow up and get some taste.
Are you kidding me? It is easily the greatest movie I have ever seen in theaters. The 3d felt natural, the visuals were gorgeous, soundtrack was amazing.
It was my first 3D movie as a kid, watched it twice for that alone.
Have to say the movie gets boring on the 2nd act and most of the 3th one is extremely generic, but still the action scenes in the coliseum and the end scene on the portal are pure kino

If you were an early internet degenerate and know what cybering means you will see why weirdos are so in love with these movies, anything further up the normalgay chart and you'll hate them.
This movie has no right to be as good as it is. The originals are super dated and pretty unwatchable. The new one, visually very beautiful, has a pretty basic story, but I think that's part of the charm. It's a type of movie that just doesn't get made anymore. Serious/dramatic tone, mid-sized budget, straightforward story. From like 00 to the early 10s you had a sort of golden age for this sort of movie, late enough that effects had advanced to the point that a bigger budget meant a much different looking movie, but before capeshit and shartwars franchise madness had taken over. It's nothing special and isn't a movie you'd ever think of as your favorite anything, but it didn't try to be. It's something different and it's fun to watch. Certified kino.

P.S. frick Jared Leto, I hope this new movie gets bad reviews (unless it's a quality follow up to Legacy instead of doing its own thing).
I actually mostly liked the story. Sure it was a little distant or disjointed, but it had a good emotional throughline, and I liked the central idea of CLU going nuts and it being the elder Flynn's fault.
The ISOs were stupid, though
Their importance was so off. Like Flynn says they're the key to stopping disease and maybe aging because they're...spontaneously generated computer people? Then all six gorillion-1 are killed and it's never brought up again.

I'm still a bit mad about it
Only reason Disney invested in Tron again was because they were having trouble getting targeting little boys.
That all changed when they took the easy route and just bought Marvel and Star Wars. They really didn't have to work to build their own brand because they bought brands that boys already invested in.
Tron just isn’t an interesting concept any more. Getting sucked in to the computer has been done to death in the meantime, which means all Tron has going for it is glowy sets and costumes and special effects.
I'm still very sad that I never got to see Daft Punk perform live They've been my favorite band since high school, and now I'll never get to see them ever why did they do it
It was killed by the MCU and SW being such cash cows for Disney. If and when those dry up, then maybe Disney will consider finishing the trilogy before Jeff Bridges dies of old age.
>Sam is a demigod, fathered by a digital diety. Consumed with a sense of resentment and abandonment. Pathless. >Like myths of old, Sam travels to the underworld, finding his missing demiurgic father, and deciding to rescue his father from the abyss of his own design. >His rescue mission ultimately fails(?), but in the process, he makes peace with his father; forgives him. Ultimately, Sam returns from the underworld with the divine conviction to carry on his father's legacy, ushering in what we are lead to believe will be a defining milestone in human development and enlightenment.
All while…
>Clu is created by a passion-blinded demiurge visionary as the man's own digital mirror version; created to help usher in a system of perfection (in this use: order and structure, and the complete uprooting of chaos/entropy/disorder) >Clu faces an existential crisis in realizing that this goal--blessed/burdened upon him by his own demiurge father--involves deleting the demiurge (and some of his pet projects) himself >Add to this some story-aiding human feelings--Clu's resentment towards his god for the very reasons he exists; the same power/passion-blind personality traits of his creator when Clu was created; Clu feeling a sense of confusion and anger at his demigod step-brother Sam being favored by their demiurge father, both of them now intruding and pushing against the very goals that Flynn created Clu to see to fulfillment, etc. >Flynn realizing all too late in his exile that the only "perfection" both attainable and desirable to the human soul (via the film's Buddhist influences) is one that embraces and accepts the entropy, disorder, and death woven into the human condition, along WITH the structure, order, and creation--that it's all the same “perfect” coin, obverse and reverse. >And yet, Clu remains stunted by his simple-by-comparison programming and is physically unable to accept such a notion, and resists it until his end of line.
Rinzler is so fricking cool. Also was it supposed to be a twist that Rinzler was Tron? Cause I watched Legacy before the original so the entire time I was wondering why they made who I assumed was one of the good guys a villain

was it easy, though? it needed god himself going into her code to fix it

how to get quorra gf ?

Daft Punk

Kys
if you would have watched in in a cinema youd understand
It has amazing artwork and isn't douchy about it.
When I see such outlandishly attractive women, I curse myself that I'm not handsome enough to attract them. Being born ugly truly is suffering.
Have you considered becoming rich? I've heard good things about that option.
Tron Legacy is one of my biggest theatrical disappointments.
Are you kidding me? It is easily the greatest movie I have ever seen in theaters. The 3d felt natural, the visuals were gorgeous, soundtrack was amazing.

Can you Trongays go watch Top Gun Maverick for the tenth time or something. Us LoveBugchads are starving.
I enjoy a good Herbie movie, but they jumped the shark in 1997, and it's never getting better.
Tron is way too close to troon so we'll never see a sequel
No. and I doubt we are going to get nutroon since disney is way too obsessed with raping star wars instead.
Ive never seen these movies. Is it worth my time?
The new one is pretty but it's in service to a boring and lazy story
The old one is schlocky and really drags in places
This Anon is a moron the original Tron is filmed as a sword and sorcery type film in a digital world it's literally kino
Yeah, tho original is great.
never seen it. it's on my list i've just not gotten around to it.

she's preggers now

Do I even need to ask?
I have no idea what it means anymore
Whatever sex it is, they are going to mutilate it to the opposite as soon as it is birthed to ensure it grows up the correct gender.
Well that's far better than what I expected a "rainbow baby" would be in 2022
Oh thank goodness
I would look thrice at her
shes objectively at least 8/10
now I remember her
she's the psycho girl from House
Narrow it down.
Literal psychopath chick thats with some bald c**t for money and openly admits to sucking people off to get ahead
The character Tron will always be cool to me even though he was just a prop
Dood lights and colors
I thought this was Troon at first XD
The best we can get is a game from Eidos Montreal
Super dead.
Tron Legacy was so bad. Game is the true sequel and was kino.

Maybe one day he'll tell us the story he had written for it.

you get what you deserve
Why exactly would the show "deserve" to get treated like a red-headed step child?
Will never get a chance to see Cillian Murphy as the villain in Tron 3.
Feels bad man.
Uprising is a cartoon that is surprisingly good.
Really liked her in Smallville, went everywhere without pants.
t-that's not her anon
yeah it is
but it isn't

It's digital beats. Could you even call it a live performance?
>presses play and dances wearing a helmet in the dj booth
damn this live music experience popping off son
>WHEN I WAS THAT AGE YOU DRESSED UP LIKE A GIRL AND SANG ABOUT THE DEVIL
go back to facebook you old homosexuals
They performed in an interval of a hundred years anyway so chances are, you still wouldn't have seen them.
>two frenchmen who record MIDI performances to their laptops then play them back to stadium crowds
>band
for me it's random keira knightleys popping up in the crowd
?t=125
One of them developed tinnitus and couldn't make music anymore
No one watched the Tron animated series on Disney xD or watched the sequel so it's dead cause you were all Chuds. RIP Tron
It was killed by the MCU and SW being such cash cows for Disney. If and when those dry up, then maybe Disney will consider finishing the trilogy before Jeff Bridges dies of old age.
post the playboy photoshoot where they put a towel on the motorcycle she was on because they didn't want her puss touching it
is this the bobcut thread?
No. Leave.
ok 🙁
>Sam is a demigod, fathered by a digital diety. Consumed with a sense of resentment and abandonment. Pathless.
>Like myths of old, Sam travels to the underworld, finding his missing demiurgic father, and deciding to rescue his father from the abyss of his own design.
>His rescue mission ultimately fails(?), but in the process, he makes peace with his father; forgives him. Ultimately, Sam returns from the underworld with the divine conviction to carry on his father's legacy, ushering in what we are lead to believe will be a defining milestone in human development and enlightenment.
All while…
>Clu is created by a passion-blinded demiurge visionary as the man's own digital mirror version; created to help usher in a system of perfection (in this use: order and structure, and the complete uprooting of chaos/entropy/disorder)
>Clu faces an existential crisis in realizing that this goal--blessed/burdened upon him by his own demiurge father--involves deleting the demiurge (and some of his pet projects) himself
>Add to this some story-aiding human feelings--Clu's resentment towards his god for the very reasons he exists; the same power/passion-blind personality traits of his creator when Clu was created; Clu feeling a sense of confusion and anger at his demigod step-brother Sam being favored by their demiurge father, both of them now intruding and pushing against the very goals that Flynn created Clu to see to fulfillment, etc.
Imperfectly-perrfect kino.
Rinzler is so fricking cool. Also was it supposed to be a twist that Rinzler was Tron? Cause I watched Legacy before the original so the entire time I was wondering why they made who I assumed was one of the good guys a villain
Will we ever get a 4k release of Legacy?
if we do it will be an upscale
Oh yes indeed, programs! Your liberator! Your luminary! Your leader and beacon! The one who vanquished the tyranny of the user those many cycles before!
cccccCCCCLLLLLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuu
I have never seen the first one and never will. Legacy is a masterpiece on its own two feet and I don't want to ruin it with a prequel.
the first Tron's scenes in the real world are kino
all the scenes in the grid look and feel dated as frick no cap
