hopefully this'll be a divers to re:rise situation. The first series I ended up skipping all of the dialog and just looking for the fightscenes, it was soo bad
So hardened they brought along a kitty. Makes you wonder if Frozen Flower characters will show up at some point, I'd be up for that and it would boost sales.
Gotta protect Japan and its culture while wearing designer jackets and nikes. Seriously, if they were at least trying to say "maybe we should preserve what makes Nippon a Nippon country," I'd take it better. Making the mechs look like native/invasive species of animals and insects, add a slice of nature conservationist messaging and it would have been fricking golden. But fricking nerds buying pajamas from seidoshop are doing more to preserve Japan than a Japanese writer with a Japanese team making a Japanese show. Fricking dicks.
tbh just because I'm not a nationalist doesn't mean I can't enjoy a show either. I love the kind of tropes where it's a small groups fighting in an occupied zone, fusing it with mecha ads to the fun.
AIMAIN had a few issues but I think it really nailed some part
This, more likely.
Cygames one will likely be prettier, but ultimately boring shit, akin to what they usually produce. And I'm not sold on the mecha designs either. Unless it's secretly a super robot show, like the name implies, I don't see how it would be good.
New KS looks like it will be fun at least, unlike the original.
>Cygames one will likely be prettier
Really? Sunrise is THE mecha animation studio. Cygame's anime adaptation of their flagship franchise, Granblue Fantasy, had notorious compositing issues, as well as conspicuous 3D CGI soldiers.
What
>CyGames hasn’t missed yet
They have missed with their biggest franchise, Granblue Fantasy.
>Sunrise is THE mecha animation studio.
Not anymore, unless you count CG shit. Sunrise Beyond is quite alright though.
The point is, Cygames not only learned what not to do after their GF adaptation, but also opened their own in-house animation studio, which does quite well.
Pretty much exclusively due to their cowardice regarding Harvins. How are you gonna make a race of e-girls as your main hook then wimp out when it comes to make anime and real games?
Similar problem with the horse girls anime. Not a single person on the planet that isn't a Yakuza cares about horse races, they're here for the cute girls and then they go and sterilize the frick out of it.
I agree, just checking what exactly is the problem with the idea is, because someone could argue against AI partners in general.
Personally, I don't think that is was that bad of an attempt of dipping into mascot merch market. For example, G-Witch audience would eat it up.
Both the character and mecha designers produced better stuff than what was in OG KS. They already seem to be distancing from them with what we were shown.
probably after the fact that kyoukai senki bombed hard and wasted bandai's time and resources mass producing a ton of unsellable kits, the marketing budget was either heavily cut or non-existent for the sequel show.

Plus there is a lesbian sexual molestation scene in S2 between Hikaru and Nova. Not something suitable for a kid.

Just kidding. I kinda get what you mean, but I would think of 08th MS Team and Thunderbolt before IBO. Or outside of that there's obviously VOTOMS episode 3

/m/ should really have a chart for getting children under 13 into mecha anime. I know there's multiple anons on this board that are parents/have child relatives. I think it could be done with enough thought.
>too old
Not an issue unless the show is ugly. Some 00s shows are even worse than 80s and 90s shows in that regard >too much sexual content

Have a little more faith in kids. Even if they won't be able to process everything, as long as it gives them good food for thought, the show wasn't useless. Much better than wasting their time on mindless junk.
Actually, I have a good show to recommend - RobiHachi. It has a dub, it's fun, it's family-friendly (by Japanese standards, mind you) involves space travel and mecha, directed by the Gintama director.
Worth watching if only for this song:

I remember an anon doing a thread about this the other days.
But there's also the point that mechas in general is much less popular these days, and most mecha shows are done for an adult, or at least teenage audience in mind.
You can show them old shows but with how kids are these days, it's harder for them to stick.
I know I got into mechas as a kid thanks to Sonic X. In the 2000s, theere was much more mecha / mecha adjacent shows done with kids in mind.
We all meme about "muh toys", but mecha toys now are almost all very expensives since they are not aimed for younger kids anymore. at least those related to shows.
Recent mechas anime will continue to struggle if new bloods are not found. And the new blood isn't just with teens and adults.
I just buy the model kits because they look badass. The show was one of the worst piles of shit I've ever seen, but it still won't stop me from blindly buying every kit that comes out while knowing literally nothing about the mech.
Anyone use the joint frame kit/weapon set 4 on any kits yet?
>I think he means Dreadnaughtus
Yeah I meant that, guarantee they'll lock the missile container and the smoke discharger behind it if it ever does get a kit
Yep, just saw it.
Was really surprised when the ED started up in just a couple of minutes.
I hope Build Metaverse isn't going to be this short if there's only going to be 3 eps.
I like the ending. Otherwise, it was just too short to be impactful. It is actual /m/ tho, which is nice. And with the short episodes it gets straight into the action.
I also like new designs. The car with weapons, tank bunyips, all pretty nice.
I did and I really enjoyed it. And hey, the ending theme is actually kind of decent, lackluster music was my main issue with both halves of the series.
I liked the episode, but I don't know if 36-42 minutes is going to be enough time to tell whatever story they're trying to tell here. This episode barely introduced the characters and changes the world has gone through
Pretty solid. I'm wondering how long after the main anime this takes place though. I'm curious to know the situation, especially with the New Japan alliance, even if they don't deal with that directly.
>downgraded to ONA >10 minutes long including intro and outro
I was already perplexed they went with making the second season after all, but this makes it even more senseless.
it's not really a 2nd season, it's more like a single short story OVA made into too many episodes
It be like if Gundam Stargazer had 6 episodes instead of 3.
Even BanRise appears to have little faith in this (at best) middling IP. The prevailing sentiment seems to be that the milquetoast writing is just a thin excuse to showcase the admittedly cool robots.
>not really describing the rules of the setting well >FILTHY TERRORISTS >another fricking Hound variant
it is kind of impressive it nailed all these things from the first series in like seven minutes
>for the new kits,
well they better fricking announce them at the next hobby show because so far all we've got is Proto Gouyo and two weapon sets, seems like a waste just to make 3 things out of this
it's all for the stupid gimmick of the AMAIMs being able to fold up easily and fit inside the back of a transport truck, I guess it's cute but it makes the design ugly
>another week
WHAT!? Damn it I unironically like AMAIM! And I JUST deleted my Copium Intensifies joke macro with Ernie from Knights and Magic earlier today awe frick.
"The Animation Studio Formerly Known as Xebec" was too long to fit on a business card.

>CyGames
What the frick. I just found out they were in charge of animating that Blade Runner anime short. How did a gacha company pull that off?
>CyGames hasn’t missed yet
They have missed with their biggest franchise, Granblue Fantasy.
Also with Shadowverse, but neither were done by their own studio, I guess.
GBF S2 was done by Mappa the problem in general it was boring
I thought their biggest franchise was horses.
>Not a single person on the planet that isn't a Yakuza cares about horse races
Americans are so sheltered.
American love horses more than everyone else to the point they banned horse meat and frick actual horses.
Will watch for the mech
Spot the true /m/an.
that mech is ugly
When will it release? Like, I remember it being this summer, but it's July already.
I mean, staff is already an improvement over the original, so I expect something fun at least.
The writer and producer are still the same
Better director, plus it will be more focused due to smaller scale, meaning better pacing.
Producer will always have the final say because they hold the money
I fail to see how it's going to be a problem in this case.
This is the same producer that made AGE, IBO, Try, Divers, and the 1st Kyoukai Senki
Use your head
Exactly. You can see how this guy is generally hands off.
Nah, his boring crap fingerprints are all over those shows
He only stuck gold with the original Build Fighters
if they didnt have the frickin dumb AI avatars It'd be solid imo
Would you prefer if they had fairies instead, as if it's still the first half of the 80s?
Everyone sensible should prefer this.
I agree, just checking what exactly is the problem with the idea is, because someone could argue against AI partners in general.
Personally, I don't think that is was that bad of an attempt of dipping into mascot merch market. For example, G-Witch audience would eat it up.
Will this have Obari character/mecha designs?
Nope, just the animation.
IDK why would you want him as a character designer unless it's ecchi or a mecha designer unless it's super robot.
I prefer his character and mecha designs over the bland OG Kyoukai Senki designs.
Both the character and mecha designers produced better stuff than what was in OG KS. They already seem to be distancing from them with what we were shown.
Nah the OG KS stuff was still gud. I liked the walker in particular
Personally, I thought that mecha were neat, but not even nearly among the best of what those designers did.
>chainsaw
Nice.
Still no air date?
I hate how little marketing there is for these new shows, it really helps to sell the idea that mecha is dead and it's really stupid.
probably after the fact that kyoukai senki bombed hard and wasted bandai's time and resources mass producing a ton of unsellable kits, the marketing budget was either heavily cut or non-existent for the sequel show.
I'm not talking about just KS, besides they already have a twitter account, just posting a release date shouldn't be too hard.
no hired social media interns
Nope. But most likely August or early September. The team is making GBM right after.

Kinda ded, but not really.
Elon rebranded it without warning.

IBO is shit lol
?????????
Now I will watch your show.
She'll die for sure.
I dunno, the only woman who died in the original was the woman only there to die, not like there's some precedent
It's less about the original show and more about genre staple.

Just watch it for the mecha.
Please please please watch Kyoukai Senki!
It's an important mecha anime since it's the most recent hand-drawn one the isn't Gundam!
Please please PLEASE!
Hi obari
Please buy the Plamo also!
We need to show them that a new hand-drawn mecha franchise can still thrive in this time and age!
Will do o7
Looks like Weapon Set 4 is just the Proto Gouyo limbs in white.
Damn Obari should try voice acting.

Okay.
Reiki > Ghost > Nyuren > Bunyip Boomerang > Brady Phantom > Kenbu = Jogan > Demons > Brady Hound > Brady Fox
Only built Reiki Kai, Ghost II, Bunyip. Nyuren is backlog. I too wish for the manned.

One more day, everybody!
>this but no Demons or manned Nyuran
Sad.
>this but no Demons or manned Nyuran
I gave up hope on them getting kits ages ago...now I'm hoping for a kit of the truck and Aaronrhino
>the truck
Do you mean pic related?
Doesn't seem to say it has subtitles, though. Maybe just Google auto-translating the video title?
>Do you mean pic related?
I think he means Dreadnaughtus, that AI truck that helps the Gouyos.
>I think he means Dreadnaughtus
Yeah I meant that, guarantee they'll lock the missile container and the smoke discharger behind it if it ever does get a kit
>Doesn't seem to say it has subtitles, though. Maybe just Google auto-translating the video title?
subs confirmed (turn CC on)
also confirmed that schedule is every other Thursday
Yep, just saw it.
Was really surprised when the ED started up in just a couple of minutes.
I hope Build Metaverse isn't going to be this short if there's only going to be 3 eps.
is this gonna be on crunchy or where
It's already scheduled for tomorrow on the Bandai Spirits (JP) channel on SusanTube. Doesn't seem to be listed on the Global channel, though.
It just got updated with English titles so looks like there's no separate Global upload
In 30 minutes
Hmm, Ultra Steel Ogre is the name of the su-
>10 minutes
For real? Awe man.
get with the times, susan is gone, her replacement is a pajeet
>12 minutes episode
How far ahead in the timeline are we that the Brady Fox is now previous-gen?
DOA
I like the ending. Otherwise, it was just too short to be impactful. It is actual /m/ tho, which is nice. And with the short episodes it gets straight into the action.
I also like new designs. The car with weapons, tank bunyips, all pretty nice.
>This short 10 min "episode" was better than all of Kyoukai Part 1 and Part 2
H-how can that be?
it can't lol. There is almost no way 1 10 minute episode can be better than the entirety of a 24 episode show.
On an individual episode basis it is absolutely better tho
Good old American war crimes
Story is still generic but the design still are cool.
Wait, the character with purple hairs is a chick? I thought it was a guy. ruined
>Opening is 1:30 long
>Ending is 2 minutes long
>30 second ad
Each episode is six minutes long lmao.
Literally one episode OVA split into 6 episodes
Same shit happened with Gundam Breaker Battlogue, also by Obari. Makes me worried about Build Metaverse.
Damn it Obari
please watch the amaim sirs.....
I did and I really enjoyed it. And hey, the ending theme is actually kind of decent, lackluster music was my main issue with both halves of the series.
How was the pre/m/iere?
cool, no ocelot bakeneko though
not too bad but there's no way the full series is remotely good
I liked the episode, but I don't know if 36-42 minutes is going to be enough time to tell whatever story they're trying to tell here. This episode barely introduced the characters and changes the world has gone through
It's good but too short.
It really feels like a short side story in the world instead of a big sequel
Pretty solid. I'm wondering how long after the main anime this takes place though. I'm curious to know the situation, especially with the New Japan alliance, even if they don't deal with that directly.
10 minutes... it's sad but better than nothing, nobody expected this massive failure of a show to get a sequel at all.
It wasn't a failure.
Uh huh
I can't believe it took me this long to notice that Ibuki wears Brave protag clothes.
I remember people making Brave protagonist fashion comments on Amou too back when his design was revealed.
>downgraded to ONA
>10 minutes long including intro and outro
I was already perplexed they went with making the second season after all, but this makes it even more senseless.
it's not really a 2nd season, it's more like a single short story OVA made into too many episodes
It be like if Gundam Stargazer had 6 episodes instead of 3.
Even BanRise appears to have little faith in this (at best) middling IP. The prevailing sentiment seems to be that the milquetoast writing is just a thin excuse to showcase the admittedly cool robots.
>not really describing the rules of the setting well
>FILTHY TERRORISTS
>another fricking Hound variant
it is kind of impressive it nailed all these things from the first series in like seven minutes
it's not a hound though, it's a rhino!

According to the opening Yampi seems to live in a tree in the woods. This a folklore reference I'm not getting?
>for the new kits,
well they better fricking announce them at the next hobby show because so far all we've got is Proto Gouyo and two weapon sets, seems like a waste just to make 3 things out of this
Are people pretending to be moronic when they don't get the "IBO 3" joke?
I literally thought OP's image was of Tekkadan from the thumbnail and half the mecha designs look like they're aborted or retooled IBO designs
Idk, thumbnail made me think of another Sunrise Beyond show.
Good first episode
I thought it would be bigger for some reason but okay
The new guy looks cooler at least.
Gouyou 30mm-tier greebly, but a cute.
We need to get more people to watch
>6 minutes of actual episode time
>6 episodes
>two weeks between each episode
Is this a money laundering scheme?
It just means they edited a half hour short film into 6 episode series
>americans are evil
>australians are jobbers
>ptsd
>gorilla warfare
>cool poses
Yup, it's Kyoukai Senki time.
>australians are jobbers
Australians, how are you dealing with this?
Booze and drugs if I had to guess.
I wonder how much China is paying Banrise for this one.
I think their political consultant is just OD'ing on redpills.
not much given the runtime
why would china pay Banrise for a series they had, is, and will continue to shadow ban within their borders?
I don't think he was aware of that
i got filtered by this elbow joint design
god i fricking hate it
thanks for reading my blogpost
it's just different
it's all for the stupid gimmick of the AMAIMs being able to fold up easily and fit inside the back of a transport truck, I guess it's cute but it makes the design ugly
New episode in 6 hours.
who's gonna tell him?
>another week
WHAT!? Damn it I unironically like AMAIM! And I JUST deleted my Copium Intensifies joke macro with Ernie from Knights and Magic earlier today awe frick.
Time for a new copium pic then
this gif will have to do. Maybe I can ask an artist on Cinemaphile to draw Yampi in a Garfield parody.
beargguy modafocka
Less than a week for the second episode at least
4 days to be exact.

Lol @ Sunrise """Beyond"""
Better than regular sunrise.
"The Animation Studio Formerly Known as Xebec" was too long to fit on a business card.
That, or the Sunrise people were trying to say that the Xebec people weren't Sunrise, but they ended up with "Beyond" instead of "Below" or something.
I don't get what makes them "Beyond" regular Sunrise with their works
If anything, it's Bones that fits the "Sunrise Beyond" moniker more
new ep when
Tomorrow
New ep. link and ED single are up.
Episode 2:
ED theme "I'll Be There" by LINKL PLANET:
https://lnk.to/LINKLPLANET_9th
Awesome action even if it was short. And hey, supply submarines and recon drones are a thing in this universe, neat.
Erika and Matoi of LINKL PLANET reviewed the Proto Gouyo.
This is the most "this should've been an email" mecha anime of all time
What does that even mean?
It means it should have been rejected at the idea stage. Not that anon btw.
A waste of time
I have hard time believing more than a handful of people care about this.
