With Kevin Conroy's name in the news lately thanks to the Suicide Squad game I started thinking about the other DCAU actors. Tim Daley and George Newbern, Susan Eisenberg, Phil LaMarr, and especially Michael Rosenbaum.
Everyone on that list save Michael is pretty much considered THE voice of their respective characters. Why is he the exception? Should Rosenbaum get more voice acting gigs as The Scarlet Speedster, or do you think he's subpar?
He is the definitive voice...for Wally West. The problem is most Flash appearances since then have gone back to Barry. Plus Rosenbaum himself is more well known for being Lex in Smallville.
>The problem is most Flash appearances since then have gone back to Barry
He played Barry in Justice League Doom. Most people don't really differentiate the two, especially since Barry stole most of Wally's material in the modern era
What else is there?
And Chris Gorham played Barry in most of the rest of the movies. Rosenbaum didn't even get to be Flash in Injustice or the Arkham games, which was the main torch for the DCAU voice cast.
Yeah but people don't really associate him as the definitive voice either. It's pretty much left open where people will accept nearly anyone voicing The Flash unless there's a serious impact. Rosenbaum is arguably the guy who did have the most impact, limited as the competition may be.
He's not as iconic because millennials and zoomers have different "this is the Flash I grew up with" adaptations
They're talented voice actors but none of them are what I imagine the characters to sound like, so I can take it or leave it.
I don't know, I think Wonder Woman and Superman's are definitive enough
Really? I can't think of any other Flash voice that's as relevant.
The fact that Newbern and Daley have to share superman already hurts your argument as "THE voice", Gadot(as much as people would hate to say it) has eclipsed Eisenberg in pop culture given people thinking of her accent for WW now.
>The fact that Newbern and Daley have to share superman already hurts your argument as "THE voice"
They're practically the exact same voice so it's kind of a weird situation.
>Gadot(as much as people would hate to say it) has eclipsed Eisenberg in pop culture given people thinking of her accent for WW now.
No she fricking doesn't. No one says this.
>No one says this.
no one here would say it. Ask any normie on the street what voice sounds more "right" and it'd very likely be Gadot. Her solo movie pretty much justified her place in the trinity for another decade.
I'm not saying she's better. Just that she made a big enough splash in pop culture.
Anon you're full of it or misguided. I haven't heard a single person in real life say they like Gal's voice for the character, but rather the complete opposite. Plus voice actors in games and cartoons haven't mimicked her voice either, so I don't know where you're getting this idea from
It really depends who you're talking to IRL, because most of the normie women I know would know Gadot before the JL/JLU voice. JL was popular, but not as big as TT03 was.
As far as mimicking her voice, they started giving Diana an accent in a few adaptations.
Mostly because flash isn't distinct enough.
But Rosenbam is fricking awesome in every DC role he's done. Give the dude more work.
He is the best voice actor for the best version of the best Flash. Should get more works and Wally should appear more in animation.
That makes me sad Supes in Kill League wasnt Tim or George. Supes sounded really annoying.
Part of it is probably because DC started pushing Barry. And we definitely cant have a cracker voicing Wally in 2024
>And we definitely cant have a cracker voicing Wally in 2024
White Wally was brought back years ago and they literally gave him the entire Flash comic. Nobody wants Wallace.
Who is the definitive Flash voice then?
At this point the only thing I know him for is TEN YEARS IN THE JOINT
He'll always be my Flash.
