Its all 2000s nostalgia. Its like when there was a meme where this neckbeard was getting portrayed in the virign vs chad meme format for saying a left wing thing. As if these people werent the same kinds that would make fun of neckbeards back in the day.
Many of the people posting this kind of nostalgia were little babies back then. Aping on a nostalgia they were never really a part of or even experianced.

This I was born in the 2000s and the Emo/Scene stuff was something the older kids were really into but I was to young to be a part of. Now its our turn to indulge in the style.

Is there any culture to feel nostalgic about from the past 10 years? It's just been politics and goyslop, plus losing 3 years to COVID lockdowns. The PeepeePoopoo wars and Sharty took over the internet, but that's low-hanging fruit.

I despised the Marvel Cinematic Universe for this
      >Marvel makes comic sales it didn't deserve to (nothing good was made after Secret Invasion)
      >OMG THOR IS SUCH A DUDEBRO AND SILLY HIMBO
      >everyone changes to match their movie counterparts (Nick Fury is sent to the shadowrealm to observe humanity while his half-black son ala Ultimates takes over SHIELD)

        >from the past 10 years
Since that includes 2014, I'm somewhat nostalgic for Adventure Time and Regular Show in their primes. Otherwise no, not really.

The 2010s and intern the 2020s as an era really does feel very much like a foot note culturally. I think there are some stuff from the early 2010s that could have people nostalgic for though a lot of that kinda just gets lumped into the 2000s. Like early Youtube or early 2010s memes like Nyan cat might not be from the 00s but they usually get lumped in with late 00s stuff anyway.

That art is pretty accurate, but the dialogue reminds me of that #truth anti-drug PSA where they kept spouting off a bunch of memes and that was the entire joke. No creativity whatsoever.

I remember reading a theory that this culture died so abruptly because of the proliferation of smartphones and all those videos making fun of people like this being posted online. Like kids were suddenly afraid to be goofy kids because everyone could film them at any moment and post them online. Interesting that this coincided with the rise of ironic culture on the internet.

That makes a lot of sense. Slang also changes more rapidly and is more incomprehensible than ever thanks to UrbanDictionary, and now that older people can just look-up what the gibberish means, its largely defeated the point of slang.

I never thought I'd see the day I'd pine for shit like the OP but pretentious and obnoxious 'ironic' humor has made it seem absolutely adorable by comparison.

      Those where the days.

What do you think "ironic culture/humor" is? Goofy kids never died out, ironic memes are literally just the same as "rawr xd" but with a veneer of "OH HAHA IM JOKING GUYS TRUST ME". It's kind of like trollshielding in that regard.

"Cringe culture" as it's called by zoomers was the same way and I can say that from personal experience, except they were using other goofy kids as a shield. I'd actually wager there is a connection between the two too - I mean, what happens as soon as they run out of goofy kids to make fun of?

As much as I love 2000s scene shit, the nostalgia return of it feels...idk forced and lifeless. Like it's not genuine and it's filtered through the irony poisoning and political/coomer culture of today.

I feel like its being fed by 30 year olds who are actually nostalgic who went "you know what, it wasnt embarrassing when I did that shit" and zoomers who just want to jump on a trend they were too young to get on at the time

You forgot the heavy dose of pretentiousness that comes with it but that's about the size of it. Both the irony and the pretentiousness are the parts that make memes and internet humor today insufferable.

The last time I saw a girl my age outside at late night hours was a year ago in my local area and not the big city, it was 1:35 am, it was like 30 degrees outside while I was in a jacket, and she was not only clearly a Stacy, but was walking with short shorts riding up her ass crack, I had to do a triple take then look away before I got caught, the only women outside at late night are like all women who are even bawdtier than the day time. (For Chad ofc not you or me.)
