With the success of Insomniac's Spider-Man, do you think their Wolverine game will be just as good? Wants and hopes?
I just don't see how it's going to be as fun as a Spider-Man game because Logan doesn't have any fun methods of travel. He doesn't swing on webs like Spidey, he doesn't fly, he doesn't have super speed, he doesn't teleport. What's the game going to consist of, you just trundling around everywhere at a slow rumble while grunting Canadianly?
Plus Western devs can't do good in-depth melee combat to save their lives.

I don't think that's the angle or appeal, anon. Wolverine is about mowing down hordes of enemies in a rage fueled frenzy, to be an unstoppable animal. They got the M rating to do what they want too
I do hope they embrace an M rating like the previous Wolverine game did where Logan can get his flesh stripped away from him and you see it regrow real time.

I'm more mad they had a 5 year development time and the end product is just a glorified DLC of the first game in addition to being really buggy. I had 2 hard crashes and 3 freezes that required a reset
considering I live in New York what I would've liked to see is they add all the parts of manhattan they cut out instead of adding a few blocks across the river you can barely interact with other than flying over it

If anything the game suffered as a result of the movie because Raven had to retool it to be a movie tie-in instead of the original project they were working on and it clearly showed.
I can only imagine what we missed out on if Raven didn't have to rush it for the shitty movie and were given all the time they needed to polish it.
They didn’t rush shit. They actually got MORE time for the game since the movie got delayed for reshoots. The game was as polished as it could be on release.

If they really do bring Deadpool, I hope they go back to leaning on the "merc" part of "merc with a mouth". Keep him to a side-mission, don't go overboard with the 4th wall breaks, and while I'm not saying he should be trying to burn babies alive or something, it'd be nice if he was just a merc and not an anti-hero. Obviously, I know what I just said goes completely against the general perception of Deadpool, especially now with the movies, but the best kind of Deadpool is the kind from stuff like Hulk vs. Wolverine imo, he's not a major part but he's still an annoying butthole and steals the scene when he does show up.
My wants:
>wide-linear (God of War, Tomb Raider, etc)
>A bit of gritty graphical style to contrast with the Spider-Man games
>More combat options than Spider-Man to compensate for the lack of traversal options. Don't care if it's not on the level of a stylish action game.
>I'd be fine with it not having the level of gore like the Origin's game, as long as it's pretty bloody
>Focus on globe-trotting and adventure, rather than dealing with a roster of X-Men-adjacent villains
>Cameos from the wider MU (Hulk, Spider-Man, Daredevil, etc.)
>lots of modes like combat trials, boss rush, etc.
There's nothing necessarily wrong with having Laura tag along. Wolverine has a long history of daughter figures to play off his personality. If not her, it'd be Rogue, Jubilee, or Kitty
Tagging along is one thing, upstaging is more likely
I'd honestly be happy with a Yakuza clone set in Madripoor where Logan works with Tyger Tiger to slowly take over the city beating the shit out of every other crime boss.
They introduced Laura in the first game then nerf Logan in the sequel
I remember Nightcrawler was pretty fun in that shitty X-Men 3 movie tie-in game. I think in a more polished game with a lot more effort put into it he has potential to carry his own game. The problem is he doesn't have original villains who could carry his game.
Kurt would be a fricking blast to play as in a well-made game. Imagine bamfing all over the map of a level. He's super-agile and a long jumper, too, AND his tail is prehensile and you'd be able to use it in combat.
You could also give him swords, with him swapping out weapons given the level and the circumstances.
Frick Wolverine, when are we getting a Nightcrawler game? Somebody make this happen.

Jokes aside it might be much better than Spider-Man. If it's more combat-based and linear it would be cool. Roaming around frozen wastelands of Canada would be hard to pull off. Sidequests and story are easily the weakest part of Insomniac's Spider-Man, but I'll give them credit for actually making the travel more fun than other free-roaming games.

At the risk of becoming an X-Men Origins: Wolverine retread, I think the Wolverine game should be an origin story set during the Team X era (wherein Weapon X had brainwashed Wolverine and several other mutants into becoming a black ops death squad). Not only was it the most violent period of Logan's life, but it'd allow the story to play with lore and characters unique to Wolverine instead of jumping straight to X-Men stuff.
