How’s about this, the first two episodes can be Spidey hopping across dimensions running into villains like Spot and Carnage while looking for MJ. He teams up with Venom, paving the way for him becoming a 'lethal protector'.
Once he finds MJ and saves her, he goes back to see another Spider-Man who was running around while he was gone. Rest of the season can be about Peter and Ben Riley, dealing with all the leftover villains which have wrangled control over New York like Fisk, Silvermane and Vulture.
Peter will start losing his powers, possibly a side-effect of his whole Man-Spider incident and consider finally settling down with MJ. It can be a more streamlined, less edgy adaption of the Clone Saga only with Jackal as the big bad. Maybe there can be some episodes starring other MAU characters, potentially setting up their own version of the Avengers.
This show should never be brought back. It ran for five seasons and ended accordingly. Spider-Man Unlimited even didn't get a proper ending. Give us "Destiny Unleashed: Part 2".
