Not him but I've read the comic. The question stands. The movie diverges wildly from the source material, but how is it woke? If anything, race-swapping Fox from black to white is the opposite of "woke culture."

If the goal was diversity, they wouldn't have race-swapped the female lead from black to white. Diverging from source material alone is meanless and has nothing to do with "woke." If someone made a thread trying to call Super Mario Bros (1993) or Starship Troopers (1997) "woke" because they diverged from the source material because of diversity, you'd rightfully call that poster a paranoid schizo. Now go a step further and assess yourself.

Sometimes when they change a character it is to balance things out naturally like if there is a love interest needed or a more interesting love interest or they might want to use an actor/actress that is shining particularly bright at the moment or something like that. Woke is adding or changing characters for socio-political reasons and not to service the real audience.
When you lose an argument on Cinemaphile or someone points out something it's okay to say "oh you changed my mind" or "thanks for clearing that up" or "oh ok" or something like that. It isn't really an L sometimes.

Nta but I am very familiar with the comic and was even when the movie came out. It sucks, by there is nothing woke about the changes they made from the source material.
