        >the star and director didn’t try to antagonize men
The film is literally Anti-patriarchy: The Movie.

Irrelevant, the movie is extremely worldwide and everyone knows what happens in it due to cultural osmosis and yet it still made 1.4 billions. There is no excuse, "go woke go broke" has been proven to be 100% horseshit.

Now that's just being dishonest, "go woke go broke" has never specifically only referred to marketing and you know it. Like I said, cultural osmosis is a thing, that's a type of public marketing in itself and yet people still went to watch the frick out of it.

        Anti patriarchy
        Trans and black barbie
Virtue signaling in anti sexism and even anti racism
Political poikts thrown down people's throat, like there isn't anything subtke about it, the movie is more about fighting patriarchy than it is about its flimsy plot.

it wasnt actually woke, it had deep anti-feminist and pro-men underlining. chud fact checkers debunked this months ago

the star and director didn’t try to antagonize men or chuds, that’s the key difference. Stop announcing to the media how much your movie will make white men seethe

if you tell people the movie is not for them, then surprise they will listen to you
this is also why the snow white movie has no chance at all with what the star has been doing

It was played for laughs. The anti-patriarchy speech of the mom was so fricking moronic that it countered the equally moronic brainwashing method of the Kents.

by the end of the movie the narrator pokes fun at the fact that Kents won't get the same rights as Barbies until much later

          Anonymous

Which is doubly ironic, since the whole "woman" speech was directed at the Barbies, who are stand-ins for men....The movie is clumsy as frick with its messaging. Haven't seen propaganda this unintentionally skewed in the wrong direction since Starship Troopers.

Good marketing, one of the most recognised brands on the planet. Average Joe went to see Margot Robbie playing Barbie, not a woke film. It succeeded despite the wokeness, not because of it.

You've always got to remember you're hearing a loud minority online.

      Anonymous

Shifting go "woke go broke" to "go woke don't see a calculable increase of revenue on the basis of wokeness" is a huge goalpost move.

        Anonymous

I don't think so. The properties that failed wore their wokeness as a badge of honour in the marketting materials, so the general public didn't give them a chance. I don't believe the marketing for Barbie particularly showed it in that light - if you followed the press around the movie, you'd have known more, but most people don't.

            Anonymous

Absolutely. People aren't interested in explicitly woke media, that's why they fail to perform. Do you have a reasonable point to make, or are you just oging to parade the word 'chud' around like it's an argument?

All the talks in social media is about how political Barbie is, Margot and Greta never made a secret of Barbie's politics and even assuming they did people knew by week 1. There is a reason people like Shapiro thought it was gonna tank on week 2, it didn't.

Sometimes you just have to admit defeat, or find a better cope idk.

I REALLY thought Barbie was THE ONE movie people couldn't gymnastic their way into thinking wasn't woke.

This is the first major movie I've ever seen that so blatantly advertise itself into being political and is in itself. It has a plot but watching it you clearly see it was an excuse for the anti patriarchy messaging. Even the producer say openly that the movie is political and has two layer of reading, both political. Hell conservative autorities throughout the world see the progressive messaging and censor the movoe accordingly.

At this point you have to argue in bad faith or be deeply pathetic (probably a bit of both) to say it isn't. Had the movie tanked no one would dare say anything but it was woke.

The people who made this movie say it is, why are you guys so desperate you're trying to claim stuff as your own? Imagine if a conservative made a mlvie and liberal tried to advertise it as theirs.

They would never, simply because they are not that desperate. You guys are.

Same condtant goal shifting, since the mc wasn't raceswapped into black it's not woke. Pretty soon the only thing making a movie woke will be raceswapping, gender swapping and making the mc into a pedophile.

I think that also speaks of how much the left redefined the landscape, wokism as it wzs originally defined as become so common place you need to be narrow to still have a useful definition.
