Lost in Translation
Really bugs me when people use "woman" like that. It's female. You wouldn't say "man director".
I wouldn't but f*moids would.
Twitter unironically hates the word "female." It gives them the ick.
I personally think it's because it refers to biology and thus excludes trannies.
Ravenous was kino, though?
>he doesn't know
also, check... I'm too lazy to do the follow up
Agreed but how did a female director make THIS?
It's easily the best film of the last decade.
Overrated McDonalds art house. Just because you resonate with the story line doesn’t make it a good film.
It's not an arthouse film THOUGH. It's just a great film.
Filterèd
It was such a wannabe art house film though is what he meant I think and it wasn’t great not terrible but best in last 10 years. Kek my sides
I'm fine with you not agreeing but could you name one or two better films from the past decade?
Dunkirk, Birdman, Uncut gems all better
Genuinely disagree with all of them being better but whatever
we have different tastes I guess.
only a female could make something like that
Mimi Ledger is okay
*Leder
Female directors from this era were better because they got straight to the point. She basically said, look, I want hot dudes, wet, surfing and add in some mystery cop bullshit on top. Top Gun was the gay male director fantasy and Point Break was the straight female director fantasy
The only example I can think of is Hurt Locker, decent film and I thankfully never served and can still relate to the protagonist. In retrospect the emotional gotcha does now seem like something a woman would do, but that's really trying to find a flaw here.
Triumph of the Will was pretty good
Titane 9/10
American Psycho 9/10
The Babadook 7/10
The Souvenir 8/10
I'm struggling to think of other good films directed by women.
>Jeanne Dielman
Lol
For some reason I forgot my favorite film directed by a woman.
When a movie has a female director I'm just imagining her whining at me after work the whole way through it
for me its Claire Denis and Kelly Reichard
Please tell me you didn't think this film was good. Anon, please.
NTA but I just watched Beau Travail, second Denis film I've seen after High Life. Wasn't too hot on the latter but Beau was outstanding, will definitely be checking more out
Beau Travail is kino, one of most pretty films I’ve seen.
