For me as a teenager I still thought they were as cheesy and novelty as I think they are now and didn’t take them “seriously” compared to other bands/musicians but a lot of the songs are undeniably catchy, easy to play the guitar to and there are some genuinely good songs no matter how musically shallow they are, it is what it is. I still find myself listening to their songs sometimes when I’m drunk because there’s fleeting memories of their songs during a time that I took it more easy in life.
